My place is located in the Fargo Estate Historic District, close to public transport (including the bus to Niagara Falls), library branch, coffee shop, restaurants on Connecticut Street, the city center, nightlife. You’ll love the architectural character, the coziness of the room, my knowledge of the city's history and tourism options, the porch and garden, eco-friendliness and the afternoon light. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids).
Fargo Flat is a 1907 house in the Fargo Estate Historic District. The room is an artist/writers/yoga paradise! With plenty of space to spread out, art supplies and a yoga mat provided, you can enjoy a creative retreat. Two blocks from the bus to Niagara Falls, and also easy walking/bus/biking/driving distance to all the architectural and historical attractions of Buffalo. The Allentown neighborhood with bars, cafes and art galleries is 15 minutes away on foot. Tipico, the best third-wave coffee shop in Buffalo, is five houses away, and the burgeoning Connecticut Street corridor is four blocks away with options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I am an Architectural Historian, artist, and long-time Airbnb host, offering my guests all the details about Buffalo and Niagara Falls they could want! In spring, summer and fall, I have two vintage bicycles available to borrow- so you can ride around this gorgeous (and quite flat) city to explore. I am experienced with local public transit and can advise on tour routes and plans, including where to stop for lunch or dinner for your excursion! My house has an ample porch and in good weather, you can sit there and enjoy my front garden, and watch the world go by.
All the common areas in the flat are available to you when you book The Watercolor Room. That includes the parlor, den, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, your room, the porch, backyard garden, and eventually the attic lounge!
Interaction with guests
I try to meet all my guests at the door upon arrival and show them through the house. I live in the upstairs front bedroom, and will use the kitchen, den, and bathroom at times. I'm happy to share any tourism information you need, chat about our mutual interests when I'm around, or leave you be to have a peaceful (URL HIDDEN) up to you. I'm always available by text or phone, and you can also reach me by sending an Airbnb message.
Other things to note
I try to consider the environment at my house- nearly all my food is organic or local, I recycle whenever possible, and I reuse vintage and antique items rather than always buying new furniture. I think it makes for an eclectic and fun atmosphere! Previous guests have been fans of my unique artistic style. You'll see lots of my own, and friends', artwork on the walls, too.
Please note, there are stairs leading up to the front door, and stairs inside the house to get to any of the bedrooms. If you are mobility-impaired, this might not be the right fit for you.
I have two adorable cats- Churchill and Mabel - who have run of the house, but are not allowed in guest rooms. I keep a very clean house and I ask that you close doors quickly upon entering and leaving the house, and don't let the cats in your room. Please do not give the cats food or water- I will take care of it.
- Do not let the cats outside, and do not feed them anything.
- Quiet after 11pm
- No smoking in or near the house
- Please ask before bringing non-guests into the house
- No illegal drugs
