This classic Hawaiian plantation house is well maintained and exhibits the vintage charm of old Hawaii with an ocean view. The house is surrounded on all four sides by tropical vegetation including a coconut tree, which welcomes you at the front of the house. A two minute walk takes you to quaint Honokaa town for gift shops, grocery stores or to see a movie at the local theatre. You may cook at home or eat out - Italian fine dining, Asian fusion, Grandmas kitchen, an all vegetarian cafe etc.

The space

This is a great room for couples or a single person exploring the island. This room has a closet a dresser, night stands, and a view of the ocean. There is also plenty of light and a ceiling fan for warmer days.

We have a second room available, in case you are traveling with other guests or family members. See other listing "Hibiscus Walk to town- II."

Guest access

Access to kitchen, living room, shared bathroom, front porch with bench and sunny yard with fruit trees.

Interaction with guests

We are friendly, and will respect your privacy if you prefer. We often chat with guests over morning tea, giving them ideas for local events, restaurants and sites.

Other things to note

We don't use any artificial room fresheners like febreze. We stay away from strong-smelling detergents. We use hypoallergenic laundry detergents.

We are very central to Honokaa town. Our local movie theater offers two to three movies throughout the week. A movie was only $6, the last I checked. There are markets, restaurants, and a laundromat within walking distance.

This is a wonderful share situation with kind, generous & respectful hosts. Location was absolutely perfect for our needs and we truly couldn't have had a better experience. Anne and Ravi make me want to be a better host.

Anne ans Ragi where truly really sweet. We appreciated the fact that they worked with us with our last minute booking & technology failure shenanigans. We didn't meet Anne but Ragi welcomed us and helped us with places to see. Super welcoming and funny! We only had a problem with the ants or insects or the floor at random times (not too serious). And the never ending rooster in the morning but it's the islands so what do you really expect. Lol The location is great because we had Hilo that was 40ish minutes and Hapuna about the same. It's 15 minutes from Black sand beach. Market place less then 5min walk. I was scared about my 1st Airbnb, but I'm glad we chose them.

Anne&Ravi, what a wonderful couple! They made me feel at I was at my home since I got there and I enjoyed my time with them, sharing experiences and cooking tips. Their place is beautiful and the bed is soooo comfortable that you won't want to wake up in the mornings. I'd say Honoka'a is a beautiful and lively town with a lot of amenities. If you spend some days around north area on Big Island you'll love being here instead of Waimea. And you can walk everywhere from Anne's place. This is like a dream in the states!

Anne's place was fabulous. I was there for a conference spending my days in one of the top $400 a night beach resorts on the island but each night I couldn't wait to get back to Anne's place. It has a wonderful breeze that comes though if you choose to open the window. The bedroom had plenty of drawers and a nice closet to hang up my clothes and the bed was super comfortable. The bedding and towels provided were great and the bathroom was extremely clean and had great water pressure. I didn't cook there but the kitchen was really cute and seemed to have everything available if needed. I loved that the house had hardwood floors throughout. Parking was easy and I felt very safe. Anne's place is in an adorable town. The downtown area has a great movie theater and plenty of places to shop and eat, all walking distance from Anne's place. Anne (and Robbie) are the perfect hosts. They were both extremely knowledgeable about the island and told me the best coffee shop and beaches to go to. They were always available to answer any questions and were so accommodating. As people they are easy going, easily approachable and helpful as needed. This home exceeded my expectations. For a great, laid back local Hawaii experience I highly recommend staying here. I loved it here. It has a great vibe. When I come back again to the Big Island this is where I will stay again.

Anne and Ravi's house is so charming and nice! Even though they've only recently moved there, they've made it feel comfortable, homey, and clean already. The bedroom was clean and neat and the comfortable bed was just what we needed every night after long days exploring the big island. We loved the location in Honoka'a--close to Waipio Valley and Waimea, but with easy access to Hilo and not unreasonably far from Volcanoes NP. The shared bathroom is really nice too! Anne made it super easy for us to check in and out even though our timing didn't really coincide with hers--she let us know how to get in and always let us park in their driveway so we weren't boxed in when we were leaving early in the mornings. Anne and Ravi also had a plethora of magazines and travel books etc for us to look over for any adventures we might be interested in. There are lots of little frogs that vocalize all night around the house, but Anne provided us with ear plugs (though we didn't use them because it didn't really bother us). I have AT&T cell service and didn't have reception at Anne's house, but they have great fast wifi so it was really an issue. Definitely recommend staying with Anne and Ravi!

We had a wonderful time in Anne's and Ravi's house. They are so warm-hearted, open-minded and helpful with everything. The room was perfect!! The location is also very good, very close to Waipio Valley, to a supermarket and the center of Honokaa. Hapuna beach and Akaka fall aren't far away either. We can definitely recommend to stay there!! And we'd love to come back sometime. Thx for everything, Anne and Ravi!!

I'm a gardener, an artist and a writer. I hike, and run, do art, have sung in an a'capella women's choir. My boyfriend is a healer for over 20 years. We are quite the foodies. We love to cook and get to know new people.
