Where you’ll be

Margate, England, United Kingdom

Our superbly located apartment is a great base to explore Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate. It resides on a quiet residential street in an up and coming area of Margate with on street parking and minutes away from the station.
Margate remains rough around the edges having been neglected for so many years; however, since the opening of the Turner Contemporary in 2011, Margate has steadily prospered into an artistic destination.
It has become a vibrant and interesting place to be due to so many fresh entrepreneurs migrating and investing in Margate.
This is reinforced by the new antique and retro shops, restaurants and bars appearing on the cobbled streets of Margates Old Town at a fast pace.
The recently restored Dreamland Amusement Park is only a short walking distance from the apartment. Excitingly, Visit Kent has recently labelled Margate Shoreditch-On Sea, due to its seaside nostalgia, it's retro buzz and golden beaches. A few minutes walk away and you will find Chinese and Indian restaurants, a pizza place and fish and chip shop. There is a local ale house and a Tesco Metro to stock up on essentials. Westbook bay is a five minute walk and is a much quieter beach than Margate and is where locals tend pitch up. You will also find an excellent mini golf course there. You can hire bikes from the bike shop round the corner and take a ride along the coast. A new addition is a great healthy food store selling smoothies, juices, and they do a mean flat white coffee. Our superbly located garden apartment is a great base to explore Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate. The street is very quiet, with no through traffic and many of the residents are long term. Margate is going through an amazing transformation and you will notice lots of scaffolding as the area continues to improve. However the house next to ours is run down, we have; as have residents addressed Thanet Council and we are informed that it is going through probate.
We have had no complaints from guests and it will certainly not affect your stay, however I felt it appropriate to mention it.

I was born and grew up in Margate, moved London in my late teenage years and lived in New York in my early twenties. I moved back in my mid-twenties when I was pregnant with our first of 3 daughters. Nick moved here from London when he was 16 and has owned and worked in Grades Barbers in Cliftonville since early 1990. I work as a Health Visitor for the NHS within the community. It has been wonderful to watch the regeneration of Margate and seeing the Old Town return to its former glory. I hope you choose our apartment to enjoy the sun, sea, local bars, restaurants, shops, creative spaces and of course Margates incredible sunsets.
