The space

Bay Tree Cottage is a two bedroom home with an additional freestanding studio across the back patio. The entire property was extensively remodeled from top to bottom in 2016, and is now open for guests to enjoy beginning in January 2017. The master bedroom has a Queen bed and private balcony perched up on the hillside with a delightful view of the trees and valley below. The second bedroom has two twin beds. In the kitchen you will find everything you need, including coffee, tea, honey/sugar, olive oil, spices (we draw the line at cream, you're on your own there), and all the cooking instruments you could want.

The living room has a functioning fireplace (firelogs provided), tv/cable, wifi, games, books, and views of the rolling hills across Tomales Bay.

The Shed (the rear studio) has a queen bed, kitchenette, and glass shower bathroom.

On the rear deck is a nice Weber gas grill (hardlined to our propane tank), picnic table, and plenty of area to hang out, lay out, run around, you name it. There's also a bonus outdoor game room with a new ping pong table and regulation dart cabinet.

We use professional cleaners who use "green" cleaning products.

You will enjoy the top notch amenities, such as EO soaps and Coyuchi linens, as well as the attention to detail, care and maintenance.

You can walk to the town of Inverness in about 10 minutes, a very pleasant stroll through the neighborhood. Just a 2 minute drive away is Chicken Ranch Beach, as well as Blue Water Kayak rentals, the boat marina & restaurant.

This home is in a quiet secluded neighborhood, and out of respect for our neighbors, we ask that outside noise be kept to a minimum after dark. No parties. Outside guests are limited to 4 without prior approval. If you're looking to have a shindig, please contact me, as I have other homes which may be more appropriate.

Everything is set up for self check-in, although we are nearby and available 7 days a week in case any issues come up, or if you just have any questions.

This is not the place for parties, if that's what you're looking for, contact me, I have other homes that might work for you. This home is in a very quiet neighborhood and sound travels at night. Out of respect for our neighbors and the home-sharing community, please do not abuse this. You can hang out inside after dark and laugh all night, but not outside where the sound will most certainly annoy our neighbors.

Non-guest visitors are limited to 4 without prior approval. Don't try to throw your wedding here - if that's what you're looking for, contact me, I have other properties that could work for you.

No animals - no exceptions, no matter how well behaved you may think they are, so please don't ask. If you simply must bring your pet, we can refer you to a local lady who dog-sits at her home, or to one of our other properties which welcomes dogs.

No smoking inside - does that even need to be said anymore?

Violation of either of these rules will incur a minimum $500 cleaning fee.

Other than that, we're easy and will assume that you'll be respectful and responsible.

We had a LOVELY time and thoroughly enjoyed all the beautiful spaces Bay Tree Cottage has to offer. The separate studio was perfect for my boyfriend and I while my parents stayed in the main house. The kitchen was very well stocked and we loved using the grill and the oven for family dinners. Dined at Saltwater in Inverness (GREAT salads and soups!) and had a kayak adventure with Blue Water Kayaks out on Drakes Estero on our second to last day. My dad and boyfriend also greatly enjoyed the ping pong and darts rooms , and are already swearing to return for a rematch. Thanks so much for a lovely break from reality!

This house was a getaway in every sense of the word. From the moment we stepped out of our car, the scent of bay laurel (bay leaves) and lavender immediately transported us into vacation mode. In fact, it was so lovely, I made it my first duty to prepare tea for everyone, and sit on the balcony overlooking the hills and the water, breathing in the lovely air deeply. A few items of note that were exceptional to this experience. The furniture was high quality... we would hang out with our kids in the living room reading after a day of hiking. The grill is wunderbar. We ate outside every night, and had a ball preparing our food in the lovely and well stocked kitchen. And the house is just light, bright, and adorable. I cannot stress how fantastic the tips and activities were. We basically just pursued their recommended activities, restaurants, destinations, and vendors for everything and it was incredible. In particular, their house book suggested the food tour as their number one activity they would make people do if they could, and even though we wouldn't have traditionally been interested, we took the tour and it was wunderbar. So it was all a thumbs up. Just an amazing trip, in an amazing little house, in an amazing place to get away from it all.

We really loved our stay at Bay Tree Cottage! The view was even better than what we expected from the photos. Aaron was very easy to communicate with and very hospitable. Like others, we found the cottage to be a great place to stay with our young children.
