The space
This 4-bedroom Victorian home is located steps away from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world in quiet Ocean Grove. The house has a large airy front porch, four bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, dining room, new kitchen and appliances, living room and TV sitting room. Built in the 1880s, the house has undergone renovations, yet maintains its original cottage character. There are ocean views from the front porch, living room and two bedrooms and the beach is seconds from the front door. Many pieces of original antique furniture are still in use throughout the home. This house combines the history of an Ocean Grove cottage with clean uncluttered updates.
*This house is an historic home. We do not have central air or luxury accommodations. The beds are upstairs. There are three Double beds and two Twin beds. The Twin beds are best suited for kids or smaller adults. The house is great for people who want to experience one of Ocean Grove's original historic wooden cottage homes. We are steps from the beach. We love the character and charm of this space, but it is not for everyone. Please reach out with any questions prior to booking.*
*Please read House Rules below to be sure this house is a good fit for you.*
In the mornings we like to open the two front doors and let in the ocean breeze. The porch is the perfect shady spot for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. Hydrangea bloom along the front of the house and the sound of the ocean can be heard inside and out. A stay at our home feels like stepping back into Ocean Grove's early days when families would retreat to the shore away from busy lives.
The home's interior is bright and calm. The first floor has a dining room with antique furniture and a large dining table that seats six or extends to seat eight. The completely renovated kitchen has solid wood cabinets, butcher block counters, an antique farm sink, and open shelving featuring reclaimed wood and subway tile. The clean white refrigerator, gas stove, microwave and dishwasher are new. The kitchen retains its lovely vintage built-in pantry. Washer and dryer are in basement off of the kitchen and there is a half bath on the first floor. Built in shelves hold rainy-day games and collection of art books. The sitting room and living room adjoin and feel like one large open room. The living room boasts views of the water from its large windows and its door opens out onto the porch. There is wireless internet and a television with cable in the sitting room. The living room is a favorite spot for reading, writing postcards and gazing out at the water after a long day at the beach.
Upstairs are the four bedrooms, all furnished with the home's original antique furniture. Each room has its own large closet, dresser and air conditioner. Three bedrooms have full beds and one has two twin beds, best suited for kids or smaller adults. The master bedroom has ocean views from the bed and another has views from its two large windows. The full bath is located on this floor. Bath towels, linens and down pillows are provided for each room. (Please bring your own beach towels).
We provide four beach badges for use during your stay. Bikes can be rented from the Ocean Grove Hardware Store on Main Avenue.

Guest access
The house is located in the National Historic District of Ocean Grove and is surrounded by nearly a mile of antique Victorian homes. Ocean Grove is a quiet peaceful town and is a quick drive or train ride from Manhattan. A walk around town reveals meticulously maintained Victorian structures and a storybook setting of canvas tents clustered around the majestic antique wooden Great Auditorium. The impressive Auditorium holds worship services, concerts and events and houses a massive antique pipe organ. Ocean Grove has a great lineup of activities throughout the year, including a town-wide flea market, antique car shows and house tours. This home is a quick five-minute walk to the shops, bakeries and restaurants on Main Avenue in Ocean Grove. The beaches of Ocean Grove and Asbury Park offer great surfing and swimming. (We like to check out the waves from bed in the morning!) On-street parking can get busy in the summers, but there are ample spaces on every block.
