Enjoy an excellent night's sleep in a Craftsman style home in a historical neighborhood in Central Orange County.

Explore many excellent food trucks, a test kitchen (4th street Market) or catch the bike trail all with a mile. Nearby: check out Disneyland (9 mi away) or visit the ocean @ Newport Beach (14 mi away).

The space

It's comfortable + has character. A 101 year-old craftsman-style duplex home in a family neighborhood with rich Latino culture. The total space that you'll share with me is 724 square feet. Your queen-size bed features a comfortable Sealy Posturepedic mattress.

While there is not central heating or cooling, there are ceiling fans and portable heaters. You'll have a private bedroom attached to the shared (with me) bathroom. Warm, fluffy comforters, clean sheets, abundant towels, sufficient pillows, and a tiny dog greet you upon arrival.

Guest access

Access to everything except my bedroom, laptop and printer.

Interaction with guests

I greet guests upon arrival. I am a busy professional. You'll see me come and go, or maybe quietly concentrating on work. I am available by messaging through the app and I respond quickly. If you need anything, please reach out. I try to solve any problems/concerns ASAP, so do let me know if something comes up. Please leave an Airbnb review upon departure.

Other things to note

The half of the duplex where you'll stay (with me & my dog) is the side furthest from the driveway. I am making improvements to the home and you may even find it looking better than the pictures. Complementary coffee and tea are available - please help yourself!

Julia is a lovely host and her little dog too. Flexible with us coming in late after our daily outings. The bed is very comfortable and plenty of room for our suitcases. I like that we were able to park in the back and have our car outside our window. Our toddler loved the little dog and he was ready for snuggles. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Julia is a fantastic host. She is extremely friendly, generous and very prompt with communication. Her cute little house with white picket fence is in a historic neighborhood and is extremely close to downtown Santa Ana. It's a 10-15 minute walk to Gyspy Den, C-4 Deli, and other healthy downtown restaurants. The airport is about 15-20 minutes by car and Newport Beach is about 20-30 minutes by car. If you make it to Newport Beach, check out Saigon Beach Restaurant! I enjoyed exploring the area and my stay at Julia's!

It was like staying at a friends house that had an extra room. 2 windows boarded up, black mold looking on floor & baseboards, shared bathroom door only closes from bathroom and door knobs do not turn, no space for clothes in drawers and fridge. A couple piles of old trash outside. The host was nice. Not a place I would bring my wife, just a clean bed. This is an old duplex that has not been well maintained. That being said, $40 for the room for a quick business stay LA area was ok. Thank you.

Response from Julia:
It would have been great if you had shared these concerns while chatting extensively in the living room, or when I asked if you needed anything. Given the opportunity, I would have arranged the few items in the fridge for you and explained these misunderstandings. I did buy milk for you in advance as requested by your wife. There is no black mold here. During the past year that I've owned the home, I've spent $10,000+ renovating it, including a total revamp of the bathroom. The most recent project was refinishing the hardwood floor in the room where you stayed. My contractor was behind schedule and some of the dark old finish sprayed on the baseboards in the process of cleaning, sanding and lifting the old finish. That is what you referred to as "black mold". I preferred to not cancel on airbnb guests due to delayed touch up paint & unsecured baseboards. There are no boarded up windows in this home. What there IS, though, are window AC units installed in the bedrooms. The all-wood windows on this craftsman home open vertically rather than horizontally. So the only way to have AC in this home is by securing and covering the open space above each AC unit. I would have loved the opportunity to clarify and provide facts. The rate you paid for your stay was discounted at $32. You are right that I am nice and this is an old house - but that has always been obvious from my listing. I wish you had extended a similar level of respect to me.

This was a charming little duplex with easy access to the beach and shopping, and wonderful ethnic food close by. Julia was not home during my stay so I was able to spread out a little and enjoyed a quiet visit. Thank you, Julia!
