Our studio apartment in a classic DC rowhouse is 2 blocks from Metro (NoMa station on Red Line) near the hip H Street corridor & an easy walk to the Capitol & monuments. Union Market & REI's DC flagship are only 2 blocks away as well. Includes kitchen, coffee, tv/internet, washer/dryer, parking pass & more.

The space

Our classic Capitol Hill rowhome was built in 1923, and still has original brickwork and trim throughout. The basement apartment, however, is brand new with all new high-end ceramic floors, granite countertops and window sills, and a sleek modern kitchen. It comfortably sleeps two adults.

We don't live in this apartment. It's completely dedicated for guests and so we don't have any clothing or other personal items anywhere. The closet & refrigerator are completely available and clear (except for an iron, spare linens, bottled water & condiments).

We're only two blocks from the NoMa-Gallaudet station of the Red Line of the Metro, only one stop from Union Station (or just an eight block walk). There is a Capitol Bikeshare rental station two blocks away as well, and Starbucks, Harris Teeter supermarket, and more just one block further. It's also only a few blocks to Union Market (a high end food market) or the dozens of bars/restaurants of H Street NE.

Guest access

The apartment is accessed from the rear alley and is controlled by a keypad entry system so no keys are required and check-in is very flexible. We will provide you with a password for WiFi, and the TV has cable and a DVD player. There is no smoking or pets allowed.

Interaction with guests

Our family lives in an entirely separate unit upstairs. We have two small children, and while there is significant high quality soundproofing insulation, you may hear tiny feet at times! We are always nearby and available to give directions & suggestions, but otherwise we'll respect your privacy. With the keypad access to the apartment, you can arrive anytime without needing a key from us as well.

Other things to note

There are no steps required to access the apartment, but a wheelchair cannot navigate inside the bathroom. If you have any special requests to make your stay better, please let us know!

Tony's place was great, very modern and spacious, and contained everything we needed. The apartment has its own entrance, so you have your own privacy. But Tony is very friendly and easily accessible when I needed to ask him for local information, both in person and via email.

Tony's place was a fantastic studio apartment to stay at in DC! Really close to the metro, close to grocery stores, restaurants and bars and within walking distance of the start of the national mall. Place was really clean, had great facilities and tony himself was incredibly accommodating for us. Would recommend this place in a second and would 100% stay here again if I returned to DC.

Tony made contact in advance of our visit, agreeing on the arrival time and made us feel welcome with chocolates tea and coffee facilities in the room, which was spotlessly clean. A useful guide pack was available making us aware of the local amenities, which are not listed in the major guide books. With Tony living over the top of the premises, we knew that we could have contacted him if we needed to, but the need never arose in our 6 day visit. Tony even took the trouble to bring to our attention a free local outdoor film screening, which we attended and thoroughly enjoyed. Because of the location and our possible need to visit that part of DC again, I would have no hesitation in trying to rebook the accommodation in NoMa Gallaudet, Washington, DC.

This was my first time using airbnb and as I was a female travelling alone I was mildly apprehensive about the location and indeed the whole process. But I need not have worried, Tony was extremely helpful both before I arrived and during my stay. He was able to answer my questions quickly and honestly. He even provided me with tips during my stay and let me know that there was a tornado watch in place. The apartment is in a great location and is beautifully decorated. It really does look like the pictures! It's got everything you could possibly need and it's really close to the metro which makes it so easy to get around town cheaply. I would recommend Tony's place to anyone who wants to see DC, its in a fantastic location, well equipped and reasonably priced.

Tony's place was great, perfect for our stay and so well appointed. The studio apartment was luxuriously furnished and had everything we need. Tony and his family were so welcoming, he gave us loads of tips for places to eat and even offered us local film times and discounted cycle hire during our stay. The apartment was perfectly situated for exploring DC, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go

Tony was very helpful with local information, and very generous with the coffee. The neighbourhood is fine. The Metro is less than 5 minutes away, and travel to the sights is easy. The apartment is clean and well maintained, and well equipped.

We love living in the NoMa/Near Northeast neighborhood of Washington, DC! My wife and I have two young children. While there is high quality soundproofing between our home and our basement rental, it can't stop all of the noise of playing with trains, blocks, and our other fun activities!

We've designed our basement apartment to accommodate friends and family on extended stays in DC, and are happy to make it available on Airbnb as well whenever we can. This is a very friendly neighborhood, with free and welcoming events, markets and concerts within a few blocks on most weekends.
