A great spot to unwind after a long trip or a hectic week in the city, the #OceanNest is cozy and clean, with many nooks. The neighbours are retirees and the building is quiet at night.

It is a 3RD FLOOR UNIT in the rainforest 15 mins drive from Subic Bay CBD. 5 mins to Subic airport, JEST, waterfalls and beaches. 10 mins to Treetop Adventure.

Ideal for couples, adventurers, triathletes, and business travellers looking for a quiet weekend, or a workspace with a view.

The space

We designed this space to be a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are several nooks to lie back and relax - read a book, write a novel, or conquer the world from your laptop.

We're on the 3rd floor of an old hotel with no elevator. The parking lot is located right next to the building. Shaded parking areas can be found a little further away. Walking to the apartment, you will be rewarded with a partial view of the nearby Triboa Bay. Once you get to the unit, you'll find that our unit's view is blocked by the rainforest. It provides us with good shade and keeps the Ocean Nest cool on hot afternoons.

The Ocean Nest is made up of two adjoining rooms. Each room has a door leading to the building's main hallway, and one wall has jalousied windows looking out to the hallway, the forest, and the bay beyond. Each room is equipped with an AC unit and a ceiling fan. In one room is the Dining, Living, and Kitchen area where the Bathroom, TV, and sofabed are located. In the other room is the Bedroom with two beds and a hammock.

The Bathroom is designed in such a way that it's possible for two people to make use of it at the same time. A small hallway leads to the toilet, while the shower area is curtained off. The sink is located in the kitchenette area.

The Kitchenette is small but functional. There's cold drinking water in the fridge for our guests. Subic Water is potable, and we also have a chlorine filter installed in the sink for drinking water. There's an electric stove for cooking, and a couple of pots and pans. There is a toaster in the cabinet closest to the bathroom door.

Guest access

The Ocean Nest is your private home for the duration of your stay.

We have some personal items on display and locked in the closets. There is a lockable cabinet available for your use.

The Ocean Nest is equipped with fiber internet, and you will have access to Netflix for the duration of your stay. Because we live in such a woody area, sometimes our internet connection is disconnected by monkeys or falling trees. Unfortunately, there's not much we can do until the service provider sends a repair crew.

Feel free to read from our library, but please return the books where you found them before heading home. :)

The pool is located behind Tiara building, which is the white building down the road. It's a short walk, and you will be well rewarded once you get there!

Interaction with guests

We live 20 minutes from the Ocean Nest so feel free to call us for anything, and we'll get you sorted out. If we don't answer right away we're probably in the water but we'll get back to you as soon as we can!

Crown Peak is home to mostly foreign tenants. They are quite friendly and may approach you for a chat. Please be nice to them! We like to maintain a good relationship with our neighbours.

Other things to note

We don’t recommend this place for children under the age of 7. There are a lot of breakables in the unit, and the hallway railing is not very child proof- unattended children might have accidents. Our neighbors are also very sensitive to noise, and we can’t have noisy kids or crying babies in the middle of the night. If you insist on bringing your child anyway, please look after him/her at all times.

We can help set you up with surfing, sailing, yoga, forest survival, island hopping, or guided trail hikes. Let us know ahead of time so we can arrange these for you.

We have 2 mountain bikes available for rent. Please let us know in advance so we can bring them over to the unit. Rent is P500/day/bike.

Mara and Martin were wonderful hosts throughout our stay. They were easy to contact, reliable, helpful and friendly 24 hours a day. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Forest Nest. It strikes a wonderful balance between cosy simplicity and lavish detail. A huge part of the fun of staying there is noticing the numerous signature pieces that contribute to the overall charm and feeling of calm. We really enjoyed the supply of tea and coffee: being British, tea is incredibly important to me. My first foray into grinding coffee beans proved an exciting and successful milestone. For him, given the ongoing recovery from knee surgery, the variety of places to lie down was critical and perfectly executed. The bed was spectacularly comfy; the hammock was surprisingly accessible; and the sofa-bed next to the dining table was ingeniously situated, allowing him to ice the knee and interact in all parts of all meals. We really appreciated the advice Mara and Martin gave about beaches. It really helped us to enjoy the area; we only wish we'd had time to visit all of the suggested spots along the beautiful coastline. Alas, we'll just have to come back again! Mara and Martin's Forest Nest is now one of our worldwide favourite places. Thank you both so much! Cas and Sven

A lovely place in a quite little town. If you are looking for a peaceful place within a couple KM of the water this is perfect. Tamara was a great host. We wanted to film a small fishing documentary and she hooked us up with a friend who took us out and even cooked the fish in his home for us. We had a great first trip to the Philippines! Thanks Mara!

The Nest is definitely a place we have staked out as a little corner we would call home in Subic. Not only did we feel instantly youthful, the home also promotes environmental sustainability and mindfulnes on consuming and waste. We were sad to leave but we will definitelty be back.

Wow this place is so amazing, millennial IG worthy, also a great value of money as you can use the (really well maintained) swimming pool, complete kitchen-bathroom-toilet-bedroom-and even beach items! Mara was so accommodating and the listing is everything it says it is. Loved the super fast wifi and netflix.. Location is great if you want a secluded feel, it's a few minutes drive from SBMA. There is an amazing view in between Tiara and Opal building and a lot of swallow birds flying around. Really nice getaway and family/friends bonding. We will definitely come back again!!
