Only after precise inquiring Cheryl agreed to pay for the amount of guests which we are allowed to receive in Tsarina (4); in the communication upfront there was a request for 4 guests and a suddenly a booking for 3 people which felt strange. Also because we even saw 5 people entering the front door (CCTV-system) and 5 leaving ( from window). This is off cause a trending topic on AirBnB - book for 2 sleep with 5- and this happened a few times this and last year. After knocking three times on the two doors dividing their and our space, we ( = my wife first!) quickly went in and out the apartment to solve an internet issue whilst being confronted with 5 beds slept in. The reaction of Cheryl and the members of her group was non-coherent and loaded with accusatory 'what ifs' and for sure not taking away doubts on our side. It was funny to see a kind of relief when I said this time we would not apply AirBnB's optional policy to come into the apartment early in the morning and photograph the people as proof. It still is a part of our home even though it has a separate front door, but we always end up with balancing our privacy and that of clients ( which normally is holy to us) in situations like this. Believe and trust...and let go. After leaving, the final 'key'- issue, for the first time in 5 years a key was missing, was my gaffe - it ended up with the laundry in the washing machine. But before I contacted AirBnB about it, it was already solved, but again, a practical proposal ( sending it back to us by mail if found ) had been interpreted as offensive. I saw the offense being chosen as the best way of defending yourself and even the suggestion "we payed didn't we! " as a safeguard sounds ridiculous. Money means nothing in situations like this. From the 150+ reviews with many remarks on our hospitality I can not and will not take that last paragraph serious. We tend to keep our marks up to satisfy our customers. Prices are sett by AirBnB's algorithm which calculates the fair prices based on low-high season and festivals happening.
