The space

Beautiful park next to our house where you can picnic and enjoy the sunset. As the weather improves, you can enjoy our outdoor lawn chairs and picnic table in the back yard.

Walking distance away is an amazing unobstructed panoramic view of the mountains - ask us where this 'secret' orchard is located.

This room faces the back of the house and thus is very quiet however, we are located off a main street which may have some light traffic noise throughout the night. If you are an exceptionally light sleeper or require a room that is extremely quiet this listing may not be best suited for your needs.

The bathroom is shared with the family and possibly one other guest.

Guest access

There is access to laundry and kitchen if you require. To use these amenities, you will need to schedule a time with us when we are home. No use of the stove as our insurance does not cover guest use.

Interaction with guests

We are here to help if you need us - ask us any thing! Are you a foodie? We know some amazing eats! Here for social dancing? Let us suggest the best West Coast Swing, Salsa, Bachata, Fusion and Tango venues. Here to experience Canadian Nature? We know which hikes are the best for your level.

I enjoyed my stay with Raphael and Charlene. There was a bus stop right outside the door and they are a 5-7 minute walk down the road from the transit station! They provided a nice small breakfast of cereal, yogurt, fruit, and coffee to get us on our way in the mornings. The room was a good size for two people and it doesn't have AC, but they did provide a small fan and there was a big window that opened. I think there were some warmer than normal temperatures in Vancouver during my stay so the nights were a bit uncomfortable due to the heat. The doors and the floors creak quite a bit so just be careful as you move around so you don't disturb others (although at times it's impossible). Charlene and Raphael were very helpful with answering questions and giving suggestions on places to go and things to do.

I stayed here for a conference in downtown Vancouver and this location was super convenient. Charlene and Raphael were great hosts, giving me recommendations, directions, and coffee in the morning. And the baby! Instant smiles :)

My daughter and I enjoyed Charlene's hospitality after a couple of nights camping. We were only there for one night and had to leave early am to catch a train. The room was simple and clean, the mattress terrific and the window offered a wonderful sunset on the northern mountains view. Charlene's home is warm and unassuming and the respect shown to us was very thoughtful and appreciated. We also wished we had more time to explore East Vancouver and enjoyed seeing how easily one can get around from there into downtown! Thank you!

Charlene's place is fantastic! My colleague and I stayed for just a night on a short trip, and it was the perfect fit. The house was very easy to find -- only ~5min walk from the SkyTrain and even less to one of the major bus lines. Charlene's husband Rafael was there when we checked in and he was very organized in providing the details of our stay and in providing recommendations for Vancouver sightseeing. When it was time to sleep I ended up using the pull-out bed from the couch, which was well padded and quite comfortable. The bathroom is shared, but I never found any trouble in finding time to use it. The breakfast at the end of our stay was a really nice touch, and it allowed us to talk to our hosts, who were both very amicable and a pleasure to meet. If you're looking for a convenient and friendly place to stay on a short trip to Vancouver, this is definitely the place!

Good place to stay at, Charlene and Raphael were very accommodating with the change in our arrival time and checking out right on time in the morning. Fantastic little breakfast in the morning and coordination with other guests regarding bathroom use. Great value for money and in a good location near public transport.

I felt very much at home with Charlene and her family. She was very considerate at all times, beginning from my booking through to our last 'goodbye'. I especially enjoyed her choices at breakfast - showing her consideration for the environment, very much in keeping with my own views! She gave me thoughtful tips on travel into Vancouver for my sightseeing (I found Skytrain very easy to manage). My room was very comfortable and pleasant. I'd certainly recommend a stay with her.
