The El Bosque room occupies the most sheltered corner of Casa del Bosque farm house, with views onto the cloud forest of Maderas volcano. Surrounded by trees and the ornamental gardens at the back of the house, it's the most shaded and coolest room.
The room has a double bed, en-suite shower room and private balcony. The house is on a farm surrounded by natural forests and overlooking Lake Nicaragua, about 20 minutes walk from the village of Balgue. Meals can be ordered from our cafe.

The space
The room is in a spacious house on a working farm in the jungle. We provide a modern, comfortable setting for you to enjoy this peaceful location, with hammocks and rocking chairs.

Other things to note
Note: CHECK-IN IS FROM 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
If you arrive before we open, you can leave your bags at the cafe.
To find us, first you will need to make your way to Cafe Campestre in Balgue (BALGWAY). You have options for transport at the port of arrival, a taxi typically costs $20 - $25 (45 min), a bus is approx $2 (1.5h). Once you arrive at Cafe Campestre let the waitress/waiter know that you are staying at the guesthouse and driver will come and take you up to the farm. If you arrive before 3:00 pm you can leave your bags at the café until we are open.
If you are bringing your own transport, please contact me for full directions to the farm.
The house is located about 800m from the village of Balgue and our driveway is 400m from the road, so torches for walking at night or returning at dusk are very useful, and remember the sun sets here very early (5.15am December - 6:30pm June).
Our guesthouse is located on a working farm with gardeners and farm workers moving around the property. We have dogs which are very friendly and adore our guests - they are not bothersome but are around a lot.

Location

Balgüe, Departamento de Rivas, Nicaragua

Balgue is a small village with shops, cafes and restaurants. Cafe Campestre, which is part of our enterprise, uses the produce from our farm and is a great place to hang out in the village. You can also order food from there to be brought to your room.

Originally from the UK I came visiting Nicaragua 15 years ago and never left. Ometepe is an amazing place and a lifestyle change beckoned. The farm, guesthouse and restaurant are life long passions being fulfilled offering the opportunity to live off grid, sustainably and organically. Sharing this passion with others and learning from the locals are what continue making this lifestyle so worthwhile.
