About this listing

Beautiful views of nature from every window. Quiet, private, yet close to fun & freeway. A natural bird sanctuary, tucked into the wetlands on the shore of Drayton Harbor, looking across to White Rock, Canada, and the mountains of Vancouver BC.

The space

We are 'in the middle of nowhere' yet surprisingly close to I-5 and all kinds of shopping and dining.

The construction and almost everything inside is like new; the appliances, beds and linens. It is ideal for 4, very comfortable for 6.
Our expansive Great Room inspires freedom of thought, movement and creativity.

Wi-Fi available. The Wi-Fi works for email and internet but the strength varies, and is not always strong enough for streaming videos.

Our flat screen T.V. only receives local stations from Bellingham, USA and B.C., Canada. We are not able to access cable T.V. Many guests note how much they enjoyed the curious local stations!

The whole house has a high-end water treatment system softening and purifying the water naturally.

Interaction with guests

We are happy to make all kinds of suggestions based on the desire of the guests, particularly with regard to local dining, massage services, attractions; especially nature oriented destinations.

Other things to note

We request a two-day minimum stay. Often check-in can be much earlier if no one is staying the night before.
There is great fishing close by, golf and kayaking. The waterslide park, go-karts and mini-golf are open seasonally.

This nice little home is tucked back in it's own private drive right off the water. We felt so comfortable here. You can't see any other houses nearby and feel like you're in your own little world. This was our first airbnb and it was a really great experience. We moved furniture around for the occasion with ease and had more room inside and outside than we knew what to do with. ..

We greatly appreciated the setting and accommodations. It was clean and quiet and surrounded by nature - bunnies, birds, grass and trees. Laura was very helpful and responded to our communications quickly. If we ever need to stay in the area again, we'll definitely be back. Thank you!

It was what we needed for our family group. Although it has 2 bedrooms, there were dividers we could put up to give the other beds privacy. We truly enjoyed our stay.

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at Laura and John's place. The living area is spacious and great for groups. Laura was a great host and responsive to our questions. She was clear with her directions for checking in and checking out as well. Laura and John were readily available through text and by phone call.

This is a nice and tidy double wide trailer home on a private lot. There is a peekaboo view of the bay from one bedroom, but otherwise you are surrounded by scrub and trees. The living room is huge; a "great room" concept which includes the kitchen against the far wall. The owners are attentive and have made sure most everything you will need is provided in the house. The only negative might be that you have to manually walk open a heavy and long steel gate to get into the property. We used this property as a bedroom only for a local party we were attending, and it was a very good value considering 2 bedrooms and all the room.

Response from Laura:
Actually, our home is a stick built wood ranch house, NOT a double wide trailer. The view of the bay, all the way across to White Rock, Canada is visible from all four north facing windows: kitchen, dining area, living room and the master bedroom, unless there is thick fog. Even at night you can see the lights of White Rock across the bay.

Our stay was brief, but pleasant. I loved being able to get out and enjoy the quiet property and the bay, both in the misty weather as well as the sunshine. Everything was great... The only thing to keep in mind is that the kitchen supplies on hand were pretty minimal if you are cooking a meal for a group -- basic pots and pans, one basic large cutting knife, no measuring spoons, etc. I did ask about the kitchen supplies prior, and was assured that the kitchen was stocked, but found myself lacking a few things I needed. Not a big deal, but something to keep on mind.

Response from Laura:
We have hosted professional chefs who were delighted with the full kitchen. We've always had measuring spoons, along with measuring cups, various size bowls, colanders, utensils, and a wide array of herbs and spices. The large, commercial size pans are in their own cabinet, too big to fit with all the other pots. When we showed you around, we asked you to please text us with any questions, but heard nothing. When you couldn't find the measuring spoons, we would have had a new set at your door in 5 minutes if you texted us. We depend on your communication to be sure all your needs are met. Sometimes a previous guest puts something away where one might not readily find it. Strangely, our stock of good knives diminishes over time, so we regularly add to the collection. We know this was your first time with Airbnb, so we suggest communicating any needs with us or future hosts right away, allowing us to make your stay completely enjoyable. Laura and John

My husband and I are holistic health practitioners. We love nature, especially bird-life; from the hummers to the herons to the eagles, and feel fortunate to live among them. We adore our trees, having planted over 600 since moving here 22 years ago. We love travel, especially to Europe, Central America and the islands of the Pacific.
