Apartment with Mountain Views, Great Summer and Location
La Grand Cerf is a spacious family owned apartment, comprising of 3 bedrooms, two double and one twin and a pullout sofa bed. There are two bathrooms both with showers. Fully fitted kitchen with microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer. The living area and one of the double bedrooms open out onto a large balcony which overlooks the piste, at La Grand Terche. The hall way us spacious the with plenty of room coats and boots etc

The space
La Grande Terche is a traditional Savoyard village perched above the valley of the river Dranse and St Jean D'Aulps.

Geneva airport is approx 60-75 minutes drive (depending upon route) and Lake Geneva is only 40 minutes drive.

Part of the vast Portes du Soleil ski network - which includes the excellent ski resorts of Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz and Chatel - the village also has an extensive ski area of its own with lifts only 100m from the apartment.

There is plenty of skiing right on your doorstep (literally), there are runs to suit all from easy greens and blues to longer and more challenging reds and blacks. There are nursery slopes for beginners at the top of the lifts. There are some 40km of pistes entering three different valleys, and 14 lifts directly accessible from the village. If you should wish to venture further afield the Navette bus serves the village along with Morzine and Les Gets, however, car hire makes Avoriaz and the neighboring Swiss resorts of the Portes Du Soleil a mere 10 minute drive via the Ardent lift.

Neither La Grande Terche, nor the village of St Jean d'Aulps in the valley below, has any British packaged accommodation, a significant attraction for some. Instead, its surprisingly international clientele is dotted around in private chalets and apartments, and the resort is run by locals who are genuinely welcoming and friendly. Most of the apartment buildings are modern, but low-rise, and of traditional style. A number of genuine old Savoyard barns survive to add to the charm.

La Grande Terche has a seasonal community of its own, and is equipped with all the necessary amenities you would expect; the village has 2 restaurants and 3 bars, a launderette a small supermarket. There are 4 ski hire shops and an ESF ski school which offers private, group and children boarding and skiing lessons, along with child care facilities.

St Jean is five minutes down the valley, and offers further shops and restaurants, pharmacy, doctor's surgery, banks, mini-market and tourist office. An excellent Carrefour supermarket is also only 5 minutes away.

Morzine only 15 minutes away, is well-heeled and chic, with some expensive shops, ice-skating, cinemas and excellent restaurants.
La Grande Terche is about as distant from industrialised skiing as you can get. Whether you are expert skier or intermediate, the 7km long circuit, the longest red run in the Portes du Soleil, from La Grande Terche through Bellevaux takes you from forest to hamlet, and is both exhilarating and extremely beautiful.

Guest access
OUR APARTMENT
The apartment is well stocked with board games, books, DVDs and CDs (but please feel free to bring along your own favourite DVD’s etc.)
The kitchen/diner has a microwave and washing machine as well as a dishwasher and the other normal facilities. The dining table can seat up to 8
The bathrooms both have a bath with a shower over. The toilet in the hallway is separate from the bathroom.
The entrance hall is substantial, and warm, with plenty of room to store jackets and walking boots
The apartment has a balcony) which faces the ski slope.

PARKING

The parking area for the apartment is clearly marked with a sign, it is the one directly outside the entrance, with the post boxes adjoined, and it should be empty for our guests as we have put a sign up and a chain across.

Other things to note
Please do not smoke anywhere inside, you are quite welcome however to smoke on the balcony whatever the weather!!!

Please do not wear ski/snowboard boots or any other outside shoes in the apartment and we would rather you leave them if they are wet outside in the corridor, or leave on the mat in the hallway, please leave all ski equipment(skis and poles) in the cave downstairs. We are not allowed to take them in the lifts. If you have wet gloves/hats etc., please do not use the tumble dryer it is not very good and costs a fortune to run, please use the drying rack provided over a bath with the heater turned up works really well. We have found that if you leave gloves on directly on the heater they leave nasty marks behind.

After your stay please ensure that you take all of your belongings with you and make sure that the apartment is as clean and tidy as you found it, and that the fridge has been emptied of all perishables.

Finally please make sure that you have a really good time and enjoy yourselves, and we hope that you love La Grand Cerf as much as we do

FOOD SHOPPING
The supermarket, opposite the telecabin, Sherpa, has everything you need for breakfast and snacks. It stocks milk, cheeses, cold meats, bread, salads, tinned food and jars, cleaning products and, of course, wine and beer. Some fresh veg and fruit. It also sells fresh croissants and fresh bread every day.
Otherwise, if you have a car with you, there is a big Carrefour supermarket in St Jean D’Aulps, on the main road. (Drive down into Moussiere, turning right at the church, and then turn right onto the main road (after you have gone over a little bridge), towards Morzine. The Champion is on your left as you after you have driven out of La Grande Terche and La Moussiere. This has a huge range of fresh veg and fruit, meats, cheeses, cakes etc.
RESTAURANTS
We recommend ‘Chez Grand Pere’ restaurant for traditional food
RESTAURANTS AT THE TOP, for lunch time stops.
There are two restaurants at the top of the telecabin, to the left as you exit the telecabin. The first has a sun catching terrace and great views of the piste, but the next one down – La Licorne – has a much better lunch time menu BARS
L’Avalanche and L’Enfanle are both friendly places.
