Strand House is a characterful property built almost 200 years ago, five minutes from the long, magnificent sandy beach at Overstrand. It’s ideal to recharge your batteries in the autumn and winter, in front of the wood burning stove after enjoying bracing beach and country walks, evenings in country pubs, hearty healthy meals at top class restaurants and the cleanest air in the country!
There's something enchanting about the Norfolk coast in winter and this is the ideal place to stay

The space

Our guests will feel very comfortable and relaxed in this lovely house, and pretty garden. There are two living rooms – our winter room, with TV and log burning stove for cosy winter nights, and our summer room, which leads out on to the patio area and looks out over the garden. The summer room has a dining table (which comfortably seats six) and space to work at a computer (if you really need to!), while there are sofas and excellent music systems in both rooms.
The kitchen is well equipped with a full-size fridge/freezer, gas hob and gas oven plus dishwasher and a double sink, along with plenty of utensils and dishes, crockery and cutlery. The downstairs toilet also houses the washing machine.
Upstairs, there’s a spacious bathroom, with a new electric shower. The twin-bedded second bedroom has a wardrobe and chest of drawers. There’s a king-size bed in the large master bedroom, plus plenty of hanging space, a chest-of-drawers and a dressing table as well as another audio system (we do love our music!).
There is also an undercover area by the house – great to sit in wrapped up in warm clothes, and look at the stars at night! By the side of the house is an off-street parking area for two vehicles.

Guest access

The house, cabin and garden are all for you to enjoy on your holiday. The only exceptions are the small room and cupboard downstairs where we lock away some personal possessions when we aren’t there.

Interaction with guests

We won't be at the house when you arrive or are staying here but we will be in contact either via email or text shortly after you arrive to make sure that everything is ok. Entry will be via a key-safe and there will be plenty of information about the house, plus contact details for local people should you need anything and who will probably pop round in your first day or two to make sure that everything's ok.

We had a lovely stay at Paul and Amanda’s characterful home in Overstrand. The house was quiet, peaceful and a good base for a family break where we could explore Cromer and the Norfolk coast. We ordered an online shop, which a neighbour very kindly took delivery of when we were running late, but I recommend doing this as there are very few amenities in the village itself apart from a local shop. We stayed with our two year old, who is relatively sensible (!), however the twin bedroom leads directly out to some steep stairs, which is something to bear in mind if staying with small children. However, Amanda did say she had a travel cot if required and there was a high chair available. The hosts, Amanda and Paul, offered excellent communication throughout the booking process and our stay, and were able to accommodate us when we wanted to check-in slightly early. All in all, this was a wonderful relaxing break which was very good value for money and ideal for those looking for a spacious home which offers a quiet base to explore Norfolk.

Thank you for the feedback - we're glad you enjoyed your stay at our home. We're pleased to say that we have now have a stair-gate for the top of our stairs so when young guests are staying we hope that this will help. Also we do live in a small village but Cromer (with three supermarkets) is only a 5 minute drive away and, as you did, you can always get a delivery. Thanks again for the feedback.

I live on the lovely North Norfolk coast with my partner Amanda. We share a love of the big skies here, walks by the sea on the empty clean beaches, gardening, good food and the company of our friends and family. I like music, particularly jazz, funk, soul, dance and baroque cl…
