The space

Private room in beautiful Victorian in the center of the vibrant Mission district. Close to all the restaurants and bars here, and just a block from the BART light rail system. Well traveled international family welcome you to their home.

Beautiful two-story Victorian home with large back garden. We are renting a quiet sunny double room with access to any/all amenities we have here.

We love our home. It's uncluttered, calm and, we hope you'll agree, tastefully decorated.

We are in the heart of the Mission district, and yet the house is refreshingly peaceful, and the large back garden is an oasis of calm.

Should note that we have a cat and a parrot for anyone who might have allergies.

Towels and linens supplied. Free wireless internet, and we usually have a bottle of wine ready to share with you.

There is not a private bathroom attached to this room, but we do have 3 bathrooms in the house so access has not been an issue.

Parking can be difficult if you want to leave a car here during the day time. Evenings/nights not a problem, but permits are required for most streets around here. That's the joy of being a block from BART; hopefully you won't need a car.

We both work 9-6ish, so won't be around during the day time. Happy to give information about how to enjoy your time in San Francisco.

We are in the heart of the Mission, that is itself the heart of the city. Everything is within walking distance. Best restaurants, bars, cafes...Mission Pie is about 50 paces from the front door, and La Taqueria - voted best taqueria in the city every year - is maybe 65 paces away.

It's all here.

One block from the 24th and Mission BART station, which means very easy airport transfers. There's also a bus line that runs along Mission St to get downtown.

If you do bring a car, we are really close to 101 and 280.

Forewarning: our cocaktoo, Pooh, gets very excited to meet new people. He can be a little loud at times, but never after 8pm when he goes to bed, then he's quiet until at least 8am. Most people adore him; he's one of the most photographed things in the Mission!

Guest access

Make yourselves at home. Enjoy a drink in the sunny garden, do laundry if you need.

Interaction with guests

We are available to interact as much or as little as guests want.

Other things to note

Natasha's home was a perfect choice for our three nights in SF. The room has a good sized wardrobe and chest of drawers, a very comfortable bed and (a particularly nice touch) a heated towel rail. The 'family' bathroom was pretty much for our personal use and had a great rain shower. Public transport connections are just minutes away. The area around the house is a vibrant community with numerous restaurants and grocer's shops - you certainly won't go hungry here! We really appreciated being able to do laundry. Sadly we didn't see very much of Natasha herself but she was very prompt and helpful answering queries by text and it's clear a huge amount of thought has been put into ensuring that this is a welcoming and comfortable place to stay. Highly recommended and we would certainly ask to stay again if we were in SF.

Natasha and Kai left clear instructions regarding access. The room is as described, and surprised on the upside with it light and warmth with natural sunshine through the window. The animals are delightful, and really sugarcoat the stay. We were out every day, but the period home was lovely to come home to. public transport to everywhere 1 block away. Mission district full of life and colour. Also, was really handy when natasha allowed us to check in early when we were jet-lagged and catatonic after a long overnight flight. A highly recommended experience.

Natasha was very welcoming, sending an email in advance with all the information I needed. I was attending a conference in the city so was out most of the day and our paths only crossed once. The house was very comfortable.

Overall it was a pleasant stay. We had a nice chat with Kai and it was a great place (and location) to dock in for a few days.

Natasha and Cai's house is gorgeous and the location is ideal for travelling to and from the airport and into the main parts of town via the BART system. I was made to feel at home but also given plenty of space to get on with my holiday. Natasha gave me a list of suggested restaurants which was really very helpful and made choosing where to go and eat much easier! Parts of Mission are great (Valencia Street was particularly nice) and there are some beautiful murals all over the place. But as a woman travelling on my own, I didn't feel completely at ease on Mission street (lots of homeless hanging around the streets all times of the day). This would have been fine if I was with other people but I do feel it stopped me from venturing out later in the evenings. However, I would recommend staying here as the house and area had lots to offer!

Natasha and her apartment were perfect - clean, spacious, welcoming hosts, etc. A beautiful place in a brilliant area (in my limited experience, the best in San Francisco). Very close to the BART too which helps for getting around. The parrot is very adorable too!

We have a wonderful relaxing stay in Natasha and her husband's comfortable house. They are very hospitable and open. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely recommend their place.

Husband and wife team - he's from Berkeley, she's from Northern England. Late 40s, no kids, and love being active in and around San Francisco. Both well traveled and enjoy meeting people from around the world and helping them discover the REAL San Francisco.
