Our home is a huge double storey brick home on the side of Mount Macedon, in the heart of the Macedon Ranges, famed for its food and wine. We're just 45 mins from Melbourne, 10 mins to Hanging Rock and walking distance to wonderful wineries and fab local pub. A delight for cyclists and bushwalkers. We're a young couple who tree-changed from Coburg last year. We live with a dog and two rescue goats. Bec is a fantastic cook who can't wait to whip up her famous pancakes for breakfast for you. A perfect weekend getaway.
We're on two secluded acres, right next to the state forest.
Our beautiful Labrador Zella is as friendly as can be, as are our two goats.
The only noises you'll hear are birds, and the occasional goat bleet. You're likely to see the kangaroos that tend to come on our property most nights, or even the local wombat if you're really lucky.
Kookaburras and rosellas abound along with ducks, magpies, cockatoos and other birdlife.
You'll have access to your own room, of course, and bathroom, along with the library and sunken lounge room with television.
As there is one bathroom for two bedrooms we only book one room at any time (except when big local events are on), so you will have a private bathroom, unless you are traveling with friends in which case you can book both rooms.
You effectively have your own wing of the house, we jokingly call it The West Wing.
Interaction with guests
We'll get you settled and answer any questions, give you tips etc. Beyond that, you're welcome to interact as much or as little as you like.
If you stay for two or more nights we include breakfast. You can eat that in our dining room, the library, or outside at one of a number of outdoor tables around our two acres.
Other things to note
I speak basic Italian, Portuguese and a smattering of French and Spanish, so happily accommodate visitors from overseas.
If you are in town for a local wedding we can arrange transport for a fee, or if you are booked for two or more nights we can swap breakfast for transport (within reasonable local distance). A few popular wedding venues are actually walking distance from our place.
The shower is relatively disabled accessible (flat entrance, no lip, but please note there are no hand rails). We have a shower chair we can pop in there on request. The Airbnb accommodation at our place is all on one level, except for two steps down into the sunken lounge room. My mum is disabled, so we are conscious of disabled access.
Pretty simple: treat our home as you would your own.
From Mount Macedon via Melbourne, keen traveller, lover of food, wine, cider, dogs and goats (the order changes depending on how cheeky our animals are being), keen community volunteer.
I'm passionate about girls education in particular. I advocate for Room to Read's motto of "World change starts with educated children" and follow Gandhi's teaching to "Be the change you want to see in the world".
If you were a super keen follower of Channel 31 when it first started broadcasting you will recognise me as the host of "The Generic Gourmet", the first cooking show on the station.
