Room 3201 is located on the top (32nd) floor of Sao Paulo's Icon, Edificio Copan, designed by Oscar Niemeyer. It offers an unforgettable and continuously changing view over the Brazilian Metropolis.

The space
The space is small: about 28sqm in total.
I bought it in 2011 in pretty much original, but desolate condition. It was then renovated and converted for its new use, increasing the size of the bathroom and bringing natural light in, while preserving all the original features, details and materials - sometimes reinventing their use.
The interior is very minimal, but it has everything a typical hotel room would offer including wifi, kettle and mini bar.
There is no kitchen (!!!), but there is an abundance of excellent options for eating out in all price ranges in the immediate surrounding. There is a 1.8x2m double bed with a good mattress. There is also a bookshelf with a specially selected collection of books, which is still growing and there is a small desk with stool built from the left overs of the original parquet.
I have installed two hinged 1.5mx3m mirrors left and right of the window. When closed, they keep the room dark and cool, when open, they magnify the view of the city.
As I am constantly improving the room, I appreciate any feedback and suggestions from my guests.

Neighbourhood highlights

The location could not be more central.

The district called Centro is located at the point of intersection of the city’s main thoroughfares, Centro is the region most well-served by public transportation in the city (served by all subway lines, except Line 5).
The area is composed of the Sé and República districts, plus the ring of districts around these two.
In the 1970s and 80s the area was seriously affected by an exodus of from downtown leading to urban degradation and rise of criminality. But more recently the trend has turned and the area has attracted many professional and creative people, who want to avoid commuter traffic and enjoy the proximity of jobs and amenities. Today many renovation projects are taking place, making the area confidently regain importance and take its place as the city’s historic core and a vibrant commercial and cultural zone.

There is a large variety of shops, restaurants, bars, clubs galleries etc. in the immediate surrounding of the building.

The lower floors of the building itself contain amongst other things restuarants (both cheap and expensive), Coffee bar, Internet cafe, hairdressers, boutiques, beauty spa, and an art space named PIVO (http://www.pivo.org.br/en/).
