Adorable studio apartment over detached garage w/private entry, skylights, french doors to balcony & electric fireplace. Full kitchen w/basic items: Keurig coffee maker, mini fridge, gas stove top, oven, microwave, toaster & condiments. Cable TV & Wifi. Bathroom w/shower, 2 full towel sets, hair dryer, soap/shampoo & iron. Large desk area to work. Queen bed w/down blanket, pillows & sheets. One private parking space. A 10% Lodging tax based on reservation total will be collected upon arrival.
This loft sleeps two adults comfortably. We might consider an infant who isn't yet crawling as it is not baby proofed and there are steep stairs. Please contact us in advance if you plan to bring an infant. This space is not appropriate for a toddler, sorry. We will consider 2 adults and one child who would have space on a sleeping pad. Please note that your child must be supervised at all times while staying on our property. There is no extra charge for a third child guest under 12. Please let us know if you are bringing a third person so that we can arrange for bedding. This will be a tight squeeze but doable for a child.
You have the entire detached apartment with private lite entry and balcony along with your own personal parking space for one car which is plowed during the winter when there is more than 6" of snow. The county plows the street at no particular time... we cannot promise access to connecting roads during snow storms.
The apartment will have a snow shovel for you to use if needed.
During summer months (once the snow melts) you will have your own private balcony with settee, private garden patio with private propane BBQ, and use of our family horse shoe pit.
Interaction with guests
This is a separate apartment, so you have your own private space with key left on kitchen counter and door unlocked, with a backup lock box. We do live in the main home, keep quiet and to ourselves when we are not traveling. However, if we are home we will certainly make a point to say hello and will be happy to give you recommendations and answer any questions you may have. We enjoy making new travel friends and look forward to meeting you. Enjoy! Please note that when we are away we are only a text message away and will always be available to offer you recommendations or assist you with the apartment.
Other things to note
We prefer no Saturday arrivals or departures during winter or summer months as it blocks the opportunity for desirable weekend stays. During low seasons we may make exceptions.
Cleaning fee is $75.00 and this is for the basic bedding, towels and vacuuming. We keep the cleaning supplies inside kitchen sink cabinet and expect you to do everything else to leave the loft as clean as you found it, including appliances, stove and oven if used. If you prefer to pay an additional cleaning charge to take care of everything than that will be added onto your reservation after departure for an additional fee to be determined by the house cleaner. We prefer a cooperative cleaning effort.

Please park in your personal & plowed space to the right as you pull into our driveway. Please do not park in front of the garage as we enter and exit from it.
Placer County requires us to collect a 10% Transient Occupancy Tax from you directly upon arrival. This amount is based on your total reservation cost.

We supply a modest amount of coffee, tea, sugars, honey, condiments and cold drinks. This is a pay it forward offering, meaning, you arrive to snacks and drinks and you replenish with like items for the next person. This is how we roll at the Squirrel's nest.
Paper towels, toliet paper, shampoo/conditioner, soap are provided.

We are Russ & Genie, a married couple living and working at Lake Tahoe to the left of our charming apartment which has it's own private entry over our two car garage.
We are an avid ski family that loves both downhill and cross country skiing with knowledge of the local ski resorts and back country trials, hiking trails, mountain bike trails and the best restaurants to dine.
We have a beautifully landscaped yard with grass lawns in front and back, edged with perennial flower beds which is our joy. A two person settee on your own private balcony, perfect for coffee, & dining.
During the summer months you will enjoy your own private gas BBQ, horse shoe pit, patio furniture & secret garden beautifully landscaped secret garden.
We have one child still at home, a teenage son who is very quiet and adorable, and brings friends to our main home so quietly you will never know they were here.

We have no pets. There are neighborhood dogs that bark in the morning. They are sweet and harmless, but love to communicate with one another.
