Built around 1400, renovated in 1990, and located in the earliest inhabited part of the village of Oia. Situated adjacent to the Venetian ‘castle’ it boasts a spectacular view of the caldera and has easy access to all of Oia's amenities.

The space

This is a renovated cave and represents a way of life that was quite different from today's use.
We have tried to remain true to these roots and hope we have achieved a simple but comfortable environment. It is a small space to rest and recharge your batteries.
It has 1 bedroom with a double in the deepest part of the cave and then 1 semi-double and a single in the living area. It has kitchen facilities, a bathroom with shower and WC.

Guest access

If you prefer to cook for yourself the house is self-catering and has all that you might need to prepare a meal - two supermarkets are located near the main bus terminal, a five minute walk from the house.

Interaction with guests

We live and work in the village of Oia and are easily accessible by phone or in person throughout your stay.

Other things to note

We are also open to people staying in the house during the off season- get in touch if you are interested. The house can accommodate up to five people.

If there is a heaven on earth, it's surely Oia - and the Old Oia Cave House is right in the heart of it. A perfect location with the perfect view: stepping outside every morning to take in the glorious sunshine and incredible blue Caldera - and taking breakfast on the terrace, with that view - was just idyllic. Gill & family run a service that goes above and beyond, too - they arranged our transfer from and to the airport, had a cleaner visit the flat every day (thank you, Dana!), and always made sure our fridge was stocked up with water, orange juice and little condiments for the wonderful fresh bread that's delivered every morning. We had the most blissful honeymoon staying at this place - thank you, Gill, Vasilis & sons, for making it so!

We absolutely loved our stay at Gill and Vasilis' house in Oia. It was even more beautiful than the pictures and so homely and cosy. We received a warm welcome from Gill at their restaurant Lotza's and she showed us to the apartment. We ate at their restaurant a couple of times during our stay and totally recommend it! The apartment was in a great location close to all the shops and restaurants and near the spot to watch the incredible sunset! Waking up in the morning to fresh bread outside the front door and a fridge full of honey and jam was great, and the views from the terrace are stunning! We'd definitely return in the future- best place to spend a honeymoon!!

Our host was wonderful, after a little hiccup with the transfer company picking us up from the airport, our host met us at the drop off point at 11 pm and took us to the cave house. Not only that, but also arranged so we did not pay for our transfer. The cave house was absolutely delightful and it was as if we were staying in a postcard. The location was absolutely perfect, just slightly off the main street and so barely any tourists walked by our lovely deck looking out to the incredible view. The fresh bread every morning was a wonderful treat.

We had an amazing stay in Oia! The cave house was perfect for the five of us. The kitchen was clean and they delivered fresh bread every morning. The bathroom was clean and quite large. The house was cleaned everyday. It is situated overlooking the water, making for beautiful views throughout the day. The house is located very close to the main street of Oia, making shops, restaurants and the main bus stop very accessible. Also, less than a 5 minute walk to the best views for the Oia sunset. The restaurant that the family owns is also excellent. Overall, a great experience and place to stay! Would highly recommend!

Lovely cave house in a great location - great to start (and end) each day with a beautiful view of the caldera. Fresh bread for breakfast every day was a welcome plus.
