'Casa das Andorinhas' is the perfect get-away. Located on a hill top, surrounded by rural land, this picturesque cottage has a naturally filtered swimming pond. Great for couples and families (with older kids). The cottage has two bedrooms and can sleep up to 5 people.

Nearest beach is Praia Salir - 8 minutes away. Many more incredible beaches run along the stunning Silver Coast. Caldas da Rainha is 10 minutes away with a daily market, modern shopping centre, museums and ceramic factories.

The space
The cottage sleeps 5 people within its two bedrooms, and is fitted with modern amenities including: airco (downstairs only), WiFi, smart TV with fast internet connection, Netflix, outside kitchen with open grill, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, rain shower, 2 toilets (one upstairs and one downstairs.

The generously sized swimming pool is tastefully positioned between the plants of the landscaped walled garden. No chemicals are used in the pool, so you can enjoy swimming without irritating your eyes and skin, or impacting the environment. The water is cleaned naturally through lava stones, plants and finally filtered through an ultraviolet light in the pump house.

There is an outside shower where you can wash off your sunscreen before getting into the pool, and we respectfully ask you to use organic sunscreen, so that you reduce what you take with you into the water.

Guest access
The cottage is housed within its own wall and offers privacy to all guests.

Other things to note

Where you’ll be

Caldas da Rainha, Leiria, Portugal

There are many incredible beaches in the local area that remain remarkably undeveloped. We detail how to easily drive to a few of our favourites, as well as some of the more popular beaches including: São Martinho, Salir, Vale Furado, Salgado, Foz do Arelho, Baleal and Peniche.

Caldas da Rainha is 10 minutes away by car. A small city that was founded in the 15th century by Queen Dona Leonor, who was drawn to the healing properties of its hot springs. The city's name can be translated as "Queen's Hot Springs”. In the beautiful ‘Parque Dom Carlos’ there are some stunning thermal bath houses still standing, but sadly no longer open to the public. There are however plenty of other things to do in the park; relax with a drink on a terrace of one of the park’s restaurants, visit the Museu de José Malhoa, or even take a small rowing boat onto the small lake which is the home for a number of black swam families.

The city is also renowned for its ceramic pottery and boasts a number of factories, as well as the Museu de Cerâmica, which includes a number of unique pieces by Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro. Our information book explains how and what you can visit, as well as a great local factory where you can buy pieces at cost price.

Where I went to school: University of London
My work: Communications Specialist and Property Manager
Born and raised in London, I lived there until my 30's, when I relocated to the Netherlands for work. I fell in love with the country; its culture, open-minded society and healthy approach to life/work balance. So, I made it my home. I live in Haarlem with my husband and 3 sons. We have a second/vacation home in our beloved Portugal which we rent out during the summer. I have been a host for various properties in different locations since 2015.
