Welcome to our Amish-built cabin, completed in December 2016 (which explains the snowy views). The interior is entirely knotty pine (floors, walls and ceilings);there is a large screened porch. The house sits on 3 secluded acres, 250 feet from the road; a small stream runs through the property. Wild turkeys run through the backyard, and you can sometimes hear the loons on Leonard Lake. Ellsworth abounds in interesting restaurants and summer activities and is 20 minutes from Acadia National Park.
This is a unique modular cabin! Constructed in Pennsylvania in an Amish factory, it was delivered in 2 pieces and lowered by giant crane onto the full basement foundation in September of 2016. It has many charming features, such as the very wide farmhouse windowsills and the Danish wood stove. With a nod to resource conservation, the water heater is on-demand (endless hot water!), and the toilet is dual flush. There are 2 bedrooms and one bath; there are ceiling fans throughout the house, and many outlets for charging your devices in both bedrooms. Central heat is provided by a propane furnace, as needed, or cozy up next to the woodstove on cool nights. There is a gas range, a large refrigerator, a portable dishwasher, and microwave. Having said this, the kitchen is quite small and there is limited counter space; elaborate meal preparation would be difficult. All appliances are new.
You will have access to all rooms of the house (the 2 bedrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, deck, and outside property), EXCEPT for the basement. I will set aside space in the refrigerator for guests, as well as kitchen shelf space, and cabinet space in the bathroom.
I will have a small, single-person kayak (plus paddle, life jacket, and cartop carrier) available for use on one of the many local lakes. Leonard Lake does not support recreational use, although it is inviting. It's a public water supply.
Interaction with guests
I work in the area, and will be available to answer any questions.
Other things to note
The driveway is shared by 2 other households. The driveway is L-shaped, with the short portion connecting to the road. There are 2 house trailers on either side of this shorter part of the driveway on the road (I own the driveway but allow them to use it). My cabin is set 200+ feet back into the woods, and there is a line of trees largely hiding these trailers.
- Absolutely no smoking in house or anywhere on property. Thanks.
