Stay in the best room but share the apartment with a knowledgeable local full of advice. In the heart of the East Village, you can experience life as a real New Yorker, with all the best restaurants, bar, and coffee shops, and an iPhone to navigate!

The space

I'm a designer and I've treated my amazingly cute, two bedroom apartment as my pet project. I had kept the larger of the bedrooms available for friends to stay in—my boyfriend and I live in the other—and all of them have loved it. Now I'm opening it up to share with others and hope you'll come spend a couple days, weeks or months in my beautiful apartment in the most amazing place in the world: the East Village.

Your bedroom is furnished with a bed that can easily sleep two (the mattress is a luxury mattress and the bedding is 500 thread count), a vintage desk, gorgeous walnut mirror, and other high-end pieces. You have a large closet (by New York City standards) in addition to under-bed drawers. The apartment has hardwood floors and exposed brick throughout, giving it a Downtown New York feel that you won't find at any hotel. Your bedroom in particular receives splendid natural light, a precious commodity in New York City and one that makes waking up in the morning both easy and a pleasure.

We share a living/dining/kitchen area and a bathroom. You're welcome to help yourself to all of the Malin + Goetz bath products, and I have towels for you. We don't cook but we also have a quaint kitchen at your disposal. In the living area there's a 40" Samsung LCD TV connected to an Apple TV (you can stream HD movies from iTunes, HBO, Hulu and Netflix).

Also, unique to this apartment is your own iPhone 5 to use while you explore the City. Use maps to orient yourself and find your way around, or text or call any local numbers, including me! I've loaded many NYC-specific apps that will help you make the most of your time here.

I'd love to share my apartment and city with you!

Interaction with guests

I primarily work from home, which means a good portion of my time is spent seated at my computer in the common area. My boyfriend is finishing up his PhD in Biology and spends a good amount of his time in lab. For the most part we both make our own hours, which allows us to be flexible with check-in, check-out, shower times, etch. Just let us know your preference!

This also means I'm very available to speak to and answer questions. I don't spend much, if any of my waking time in my bedroom. If I'm not home, I'm incredibly easy to reach via the iPhone I give my guests—you're always welcome call or text me.

My biggest request is that you leave the place as you found it. Other than that, simple courtesies like asking to bring friends back to the apartment before doing so are also appreciated. That said, I want you to feel like you're at home. :)

An absolutely brilliant room in the best part of New York. Close to everything including great restaurants and bars. Eric and Cutie are fantastic, helpful hosts who are great to live with. Couldn't be happier, Cheers B

My sister and I absolutely loved staying at Eric's place! Accommodations and room were exactly as pictured, and Eric went out of his way to accommodate our early check in and late check out. The location was so prime - close to so many restaurants/things to do but also still super close to the subway so you can get anywhere.

I absolutely loved staying with Eric. So much so that this visit was round two.. four years later! Endlessly helpful, kind, generous, inclusive, fun and a great sense of humour... he's the best guy to hang with! His apartment was exactly as I remembered it - clean, beautifully presented, comfortable, super cute and conveniently located. Same as last time it was hard to leave New York, particularly Eric and his home. Needless to say, I'll definitely be back for round three.. sooner rather than later!

Eric is a wonderful host and I highly recommend staying with him! The room was very clean and beautiful. The location is amazing, with a lot of bars and restaurants within walking distance. I was there during a heat wave and it was always a relief to come back to the room and know it would be cool because the room has A/C. Thanks again Eric for being a great host!

Eric's apartment was exactly what I was looking for--a place with a comfortable room, a kind and knowledgeable host, and a perfect location for walking around lower Manhattan. I'd recommend his spot for anyone looking to grab an affordable and well-situated place from which to explore the city. Thanks again, Eric!

It's such a cozy apartment enjoying the best location in East Village if you are coming NYC for traveling/food/shopping. Eric has been super helpful who gave us clear arriving direction, flexible check in/check out time, and a lot good suggestions. It's a good person to know if you wanna have an idea of how a New Yorker live/work in this city. He also keeps the apt super clean all the time. It's our first time trying Airbnb sharing room instead of owning entire apt, and it's definitely good enough to encourage us to experience next time !

Eric's apartment is a pearl in the trendy neighborhood of East Village. I have to say that Eric is one of the best hosts ever. He's very easy to get along with, funny, kind, helpful and caring. The room is perfect with a super-comfy bed and beautiful design furniture. I slept like an angel in that bed. I ended up having a few enjoyable conversations with Eric about the city, life and our common interest for design and photography. I would love to go back to Eric's apartment sometime. The area is perfect for young people like me to explore and live in. A perfect stay in a perfect apartment.

Eric User ProfileEric is a superhost.

I'm something of a bon vivant and enjoy many of the pleasures afforded by living in an incredible city such as New York. I love being surrounded by such a diverse population of people who serve as an infinite font of energy and inspiration. I fancy myself a creative intellectual and love nothing more than sharing an amazing meal with close friend or perhaps traveling a foreign country, sampling the best of what that unique locale has to offer. As far as traveling goes, I've had the privilege of seeing much of Western and Northern Europe (and even living in Madrid for almost a year and Copenhagen for a summer) as well as visiting Morocco, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, and Mexico to name a few. Food is a huge love of mine, and I am a pescetarian (anything to stem our ridiculous love affair with destroying the environment), although I don't cook at home. Years ago one of my good friends coined the term "maximist" to describe my uncanny affinity for experiencing or owning the best of what's available. If you care to see what it is that I find interesting, feel free to look at my feed on Instagram at "cb".
