Claire, I appreciate you taking the time to review my apartment. I apologize for not being able to personally host you. But, I am happy you enjoyed the style and decor of my apartment.
However, I have a couple of gripes with your review. First, regarding the noise, in my description, I note that I am on the second floor, facing a busy street, and during the spring/summer months things get very lively. Furthermore, New York in general is not known for being very quiet, so while I am sorry to hear you had trouble resting, I just would've hope you (or others thinking about booking my place) would keep that point in mind, and not book my place if you are a light sleeper.
Second, regarding your opinion about my neighborhood. You stated, ' it's probably perfectly safe, but I sometimes felt uncomfortable'. This is very disheartening to read because although it might not be the sole reason I get the sense you wrote that - based on the weight of your words throughout your description - because you were uncomfortable with the fact my community/neighborhood is predominately West Indian/ Caribbean. I truly understand feeling like a bit of an outsider in a new place, I travel a lot by myself, so you can only imagine, but in my opinion, when you book an Airbnb you are not looking for a stereotypical experience. You choose Airbnb for the experience, host, and the community. My community is rich with family and history ( the Weeksville Heritage Center two blocks away from my apartment), so while it's disheartening that you were not able to see those aspects of my neighborhood, I just hope that when you book future Airbnb's you keep the full picture in mind. Once again, thank you for taking the time to review my place and I wish you all the best.
