A large, landscaped courtyard with a barbecue station, stone oven and water wells. There is also an extra - Bathroom with new washing machine, bath, washbasin and toilet.
From the yard over a stone staircase you reach the orchard with 30 different kinds of fruit trees. Lemon, orange, pomegranate, fig, lotus trees etc, all available.
In the surrounding villages Daphnes, Venerato, Asites, in small taverns you can enjoy the traditional Cretan cuisine. Small supermarkets, pharmacy and bakery are just a short drive away.
Also near located one of the oldest monasteries, the monastery Moni Paliani.
In the village itself, there is a Byzantine chapel, Agia Paraskevi, over 1000 years old.

We were made very welcome by Susanna and Manolis. Susanna took us to the cottage and also showed us around the area; where we could buy bread and provisions; took us to a local restaurant; showed us where the olives they grow are processed in the village. Manolis had left a map showing places of interest which we found extremely useful and which we took with us each day when we went exploring. We were invited to refreshments at their flat in the centre of Heraklion where we were given home-made apple pie, coffee and then a selection of home-made liquers. There are not many hosts that are prepared to do that! The cottage was perfect and had everything that we could need. We were given a bottle of olive oil and were invited to pick oranges and grapefruits from their orchard. All in all, we would highly recommend staying here.

I think Susanne and Manolis are the perfect hosts. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was too much trouble. Sorting out the car hire, then meeting us at the airport at 23:00 and escorting us to the house are just two examples of their generosity and professionalism. The house was exactly as described and was the perfect retreat for our holiday. It's location makes it perfect for exploring Crete, either by car or foot (we did both.) There are no facilities in the village but, as part of our introduction, Suzanne and Manolis showed us where the filling stations, super markets, bakeries, cafes and tavernas were in our area, which ones they recommended and the easy routes between them. There is a winery across the street from the house. The owners are very friendly and their wine is fantastic. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful. Return visits were met like the homecoming of an old friend.

Susanna and Manolis gave us a great welcome to Siva explaining in detail the attractions on offer and taking us for a quick drive around the area to orientate ourselves to the local services. The cottage was an excellent base for us after having been on the road for three months. It is one of the better appointed airbnbs we have stayed in and allowed us to choose to relax at "home" as an option to driving to many of the nearby sites of which there are many. The many nearby villages had all the services needed and it is only a short drive into Heraklion. We had a great eight day stay in the cottage.

Susanna and Manolis are the most hospitable , friendly and helpful hosts ever! The house is absolutely gorgeous and authentic, clean and has absolutely everything you can think of. The yard and the fruit garden are so special that sometimes we preferred just to stay and relax outside instead of travelling... Siva village is the small beautiful village surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, write in the middle of Crete , among the mountains. But at the same time very close to the beach area and Heraklion . The place is a real treat. I really hope to be back there soon.

We had a glorious week in Siva where the photos don't do justice to the charm, space and warmth of the is an ideal base for exploring Crete being easily accessible from Heraklion on an excellent highway and always provides a warm homely feeling when you return after the days adventures. Susanna and Manolis could not have been more welcoming and hospitable with Manolis providing us with maps and suggestions of his favourite places to visit and Susanna going the extra mile to care for our welfare and was always available to help with any issues. If we are lucky enough to return to Crete we would not hesitate in staying with them again.

After three weeks on Crete - this has been our favourite stay! Why? The hosts are fantastic. It is seldom that you encounter hosts so welcoming. The cottage is perfect. We enjoyed the backyard the most. Sleeping and kitchen are also in order. Internet/wifi are top - was able to work with video calls. The village is just the right size for a week getaway. We had a car and went in to Heraklion a few times. Just get lost in the wine/olive groves. Also two houses down is a fantastic winery. Our only regret is that we didn't buy more. Tip: arrive in Heraklion on a Friday and make it in to town for the Saturday market. The quality of fruits/vegetables is unlike anything we've encountered (we're from n. europe :) Families - bunk beds are great and will come back as our little one grows. This time happy to have a crib for our little one and high chair and a swing.
