The farm house is beautiful, the big back yard is amazing, and the views of the next door farm are stunning, it really surpassed out expectations. The photos don't do justice to the beautiful home. The home is spacious, warm and comfortable. Moss is a great host, quick to replay to our questions. The tiny town of Copake is beautiful, full of working farms, mostly organic. We got fresh eggs and vegetables from the farm next door. Also from Empire Farm, on Empire st. If you're looking for a nice and comfortable upstate experience with easy access to many little towns and farms, or big places like Hudson and Great Barrington, this is a perfect place to visit. We will definitely be going back.

The farmhouse is in a pretty setting and good central location. Lots of great swimming holes nearby or within a half hour drive. We had a lot of fun traveling to various towns in the area. The backyard is spacious and lovely. And the chickens from next door were welcome visitors. The house could be a little cleaner and the furniture, especially the couch, and linens weren't good and should be updated (cotton sheets, please!). If you're staying with three or more people, there might not be quite enough towels so Moss could get a few more or give guests a heads-up to bring their own.

What a pleasure it was to stay in this unique and relaxing farmhouse and town. Moss Crayton, its host, is a kind, thoughtful gentleman, who cared deeply about the quality of our stay. Our children were delighted by backyard soccer, the tree swing, visits from the neighboring farm's chickens, and the occasional sights and sounds of sheep not too far away (but not too close). A three-minute walk away, Church's Deli, Dad's diner, a country grocery store and a gas/convenience store offered delicious, ample variety (including ice cream sundaes) for our multi-week stay. The fully-equipped kitchen was also a welcome option. Breathtaking views of mountains, farms, horse ranches, and deer who seem unfazed by motorists were already worth the cost of the stay. Inside, we found a transformative, low/no tech (good Wi-Fi, though) experience including vintage board games, vinyl record fun for all tastes (e.g. Children’s stories, Tchaikovsky, Boston ‘70s band), and hundreds of books in all categories for all ages from young reader to teen to Tolstoy; you have to see this book collection to believe it. Either the rooster to the West or the post office to the East may awaken you every morning, and you may wish to check with the host about whether he or tenants may also staying in the house, which has been divided into two sections. Only one upstairs bathroom was available in our section. Though Moss, our host, kept a very low profile managing the grounds, we became very comfortable and friendly with him during our six-week stay. We decided to share the laundry room (in ‘our section of the house’) with Moss (the laundry room can be accessed from either section) and we let him know by text when we’d be out all day. A few harmless country bugs in the house and a bit of sulfur smell in the water were all part of the escape/experience for us; our family is now a closer-knit, less technology-centered bunch who are happier knowing that we don’t “need” as much as we thought we did! Priceless. We’ll be back!

We loved Moss' place! So quiet and comfortable, and we particularly enjoyed spinning his vinyl collection on the turntable -- something none of us have done for decades. :-) Moss was very responsive to a few questions we had, he and his wife made us both feel very welcome. Thanks so much!

This is a lovely house in the Berkshires. Spacious, clean, and quiet. It is located near beautiful farms and hiking trails. Moss provided us good directions of how to get to the house, and met us the second day of our stay. However, he never was in our way and gave us all the space we needed, even though he was staying nearby.
