Bright vintage double bedroom with balcony. Large house in a well connected area rich in shops. Fully equipped kitchen, washing machine,wi-fi,etc.
If I'm at home,we'll spend good time together. If I sleep out,you will enjoy the house all for your own!

The space

The bedroom is very confortable and bright with vintage (Thirties) furniture, a double bed and a balcony. It's perfect for a single guest or a couple (contact me if you have different requests).
The flat is spacious. There's a wide entrance hall, a dining room with a full equipped kitchen suitable for cooking. Shower box, sink, wc and bidet in the toilet.
The surrounding area is full of life and services. People are very friendly. Parking is free and safe almost all around (look for the white stripe painted on the ground! Blue one means pay for).
Check out at 11.30 (you can leave your luggage in the house for the rest of the day).

Guest access

Guests will have access to alla shared places in the flat.
They will find food and drink for a satisfying breakfast in the kithchen and in the fridge.
They can cook and use all the household appliances.
For any further request... I shall do my best to help you!

Interaction with guests

If I'm staying at home, I will be very pleased to introduce you the town and its surrounding. Maybe we can find the way to visit some places together, to have dinner, to go out, etc.
I can speak English, some Spanish a bit of French and German... We'll find the way to talk a lot!
Lately I'm working a lot abroad so it's possible I will not be at home during your stay. In that case, my parents will let you access the house. You'll find everything ready inside and a brief introduction to house and surroundings. For any further request we will keep in touch!

Other things to note

There's no tv in the house... it's a social choice ;)
There are no keys in the doors (except for the bathroom).
There's no air conditioning in the room (but if you keep your door open for a while, the airconditioner in the entrance will work as well!)
Please, don't smoke in the house. You can smoke on the balcony, there's also an ashtray there! Bring a chair out and relax!
Please contact me if you are bringing a pet with you... just to know what kind of "friend" will share the house with us!

An now, some useful tips!
You'll find all the stuff for a rich breakfast in the kithchen and in the fridge
For anything else, the surroundings are full of shops and supermarkets where you can find food and loose yourself in a cheap Italian shopping. Shops are open from 9 am to 1 pm and from 5 to 8, 30 pm. Supermarket and food shops usually have longer opening time. Check it out if you're interested in any particular stuff or shop.
There's also an open air market next to the house, it's just a couple of minutes walking, going outside the building, on the left, along via Emilia (the cross between via Emilia and via Lucania). It's open in the morning from 8 am to 1,30 pm. You can experience a very cheap, coloured and "noisy" corner of "southernitalianity"! They don't speak english, of course, but every foreigner that went there was surprised by the sellers' communication talent!!
The area is also full of "pizzerie" (pizza restaurants), both sitting or thake away. Some of them are also good restaurants or "trattoria". They're cheap and mainly good. Choose the one that looks more attractive to you: you won't get wrong!
Just few suggestions in the plenty of ones: for a quick take away pizza or "panzerotto" try Pizzeria "Al rusticone" (1 minute walking), at the cross between via Emilia and corso Piemonte; for a good neapolitan style wood baked pizza try Pizzeria "Tam Tam" (3 minutes walking) on via Emilia, next to the cross with via Puglia; if you want to try some traditional local recipes and pizza, try "Nonsolopizza" (5 minutes walking), on corso Italia, before the cross with via Umbria. Some pizzerias serve gluten free or lactose free pizza, ask before!
"Panzerotto" is the most common street food in Apulia: it's a small versions of the "calzone" or closed pizza, like a "raviolo", filled with tomato and mozzarella and, sometimes, ham or mortadella. It could be fried (better) or baked (healthier).
If you're in the town center, you must try "ristorante Basile", in via Pitagora, next to Orfeo Theatre. It's a cheap old trattoria that serve a rich choice of traditional Ta(SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)an dishes and a good cryspy pizza. Try also the sweets, they're divine!
I could carry on with innumerable tips but I think it's not the case to write a book now!
I prefer to invite you to discover the town and get surprised by the hospitality of its people, and amazed by the colours of sea, sky and sunsets!

Luigi was the perfect host in Taranto, very knowledgeable about his town and enthusiastic to show you how wonderful it is. I have been there several times before so I know the place very well, my friend however has not....Luigi even took her to the beach with his friends. He made sure i found a place to watch the football, and called many different bars and restaurants for me. Made sure we had provisions in for breakfast and even some prosecco for evening drinks....the prefect host, couldn't wish for a better, nicer person....a complete pleasure.

Luigi had to be away in Lecce for most of my stay, which was a shame as he is a very genial, welcoming and helpful host. He is also vety knowledgeable about Taranto, and is happy to pass on his information with his excellent English. I would recommend Luigi very highly as a host. The apartment is comfortable and pleasant, with a very well-equipped kitchen. It is linked to historic centre of Taranto by bus, as well as the train and bus stations.

I honestly could not recommend Luigi more. In the two weeks I spent traveling Italy, he was far and away the best host I had. He made me feel very welcome in his apartment and entertained me for the evening. He took me to the beach and showed me some local ruins (after I mentioned I was interested in archeology) and even welcomed me with dinner. Luigi speaks perfect English and is a very interesting guy, so I would especially recommend him if you are traveling alone (as I was!) The apartment itself is clean, tidy and very homely. I could not fault it!

Luigi was a fantastic host & I would recommend him & the room in his apartment 101% to anyone staying in Taranto or using Taranto as a base to explore the surrounding area. The room itself is very spacious , with a comfortable bed & the apartment itself is really centrally located - easy to park the hire car for free outside in the street . Nice kitchen / diner with everything that you need for preparing breakfast or cooking more seriously . As for the host , Luigi was really great & you'd be hard pushed to find someone so kind, intelligent & predisposed to help out with your questions. I stayed for a week & it was like hanging out with a friend : he put up with my pretty un-refined Italian (even though his English is good!) , helped orientate me with a map of Taranto , gave me lots of advice on what to visit & was generally a fountain of knowledge on Taranto & everything Pugliese. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again when next in Taranto - it was a real pleasure & the very best of airbnb. Thanks Luigi !!

Staying with Luigi was a great experience, he's a really nice person and fantastic host, he exceeded our expectations, acting as our very knowledgeable guide, a great cook and now good friend. His apartment is really well located for discovering all the city, new and old town. Spacious room with balcony, and very comfy bed. Highly recommended!!
