Thank you for a wonderful and memorable first trip to Christchurch. I would highly recommend this property to friends and family. The views are breathtaking and the shower was the best I've ever experienced. Debbie and Manaia are the perfect hosts and were very approachable and easy to communicate with. Thanks once again!

Thank you both for choosing to stay at our piece of paradise. You were both very warm, friendly, extremely tidy and respectful of our home and surroundings. Perfect guests, a pleasure to host. The little bird you rescued lives to see another day. We look forward to welcoming you again

THE ACCOMMODATION Anybody booking this accommodation will not be disappointed in fact they are in for a wonderful surprise. The accommodation is a very spacious one bedroom apartment fitted out in the most luxurious fixtures and fittings and decorated to a very high standard. The bedroom has a nice size queen bed with fitted wardrobes and plenty of space. The views from the bedroom must be one of the best views in the south island. In the living area there is a lounge that converts to a double bed, a nice size flat screen TV with a DVD player with many films, and chromecast should you want to watch Netflix. The kitchen is fully equipped if you feel like eating in, however, the choices of restaurants around the local area is plentiful. Debbie and Mainia provided a range of teas, coffee, Milo, milk, biscuits, a fresh fruit bowl, a selection of jams, marmalades, peanut butter and even honey collected from their own beehive. Bread, cereal and yoghurt were also provided which meant we could enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the deck enjoying the stunning scenery THE HOSTS Our hosts Debbie and Mainia (and Tanner the dog) were everything a host should be. The communication prior to our arrival was great and facilitated a hassle free journey from Christchurch airport to the accommodation.. Debbie andMainia are from the area and are very knowledgeable and enjoy taking time out to share that knowledge. Ask them to show you their toys (in the garage). THE LOCATION Rapaki is one of four Marae based communities set on the Banks Peninsula. With stunning views over the water, looking toward Quail Island, on one side and views of the mountains on the other this property will appeal to everyone who has use of a vehicle. A 25 minute drive from the centre of Christchurch and a 15-20 drive to AMI stadium. The port town of Lyttelton is only a short 10 minute drive and is home to a number of shops, cafes and restaurants. There is also a very nice Irish Bar, Fat Tony's. If your budget allows I would highly recommend a visit to Roots restaurant. It has no menu however you do get to choose from an 8 or 12 course degustation, with or without matching wines. They create dishes from the very best produce available that day. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. VERDICT I loved this place. I loved the accommodation, the location and above all, the hosts. I would recommend that anyone wanting to travel the south island or anyone, like us, who just needed to recharge the batteries, stay here as guests of Debbie andMainia. You will not find anywhere better in New Zealand.

My husband Manaia was born and bred in Rapaki,. We have 6 adult children between us who are all living independently and we now live on our own in this Beautiful Piece of Paradise, with our chickens, sheep and native birds. Rapaki is a unique Maori settlement and one of four mares on the Banks Peninsula. From our home, we like to relax on one of our decks overlooking the Stunning Views of the Surrounding Hills and Harbour or taking a walk on many of the nearby Tracks or exploring our beautiful country, New Zealand, in our camper. You may find that once you arrive here it will be hard to leave and 2 days will not be enough. We are looking forward to sharing our home and Surroundings with our guests. For us, the Essentials of Life is: Someone to Love, Something to do and Something to look forward to
