The space

A quiet retreat near open fields with grazing sheep and forested hillsides, our house is only two hours from New York City, but feels like it’s in the middle of Vermont. Scenic drives, cool shops and galleries, and delightful restaurants are scattered throughout the quaint, historic towns of the Litchfield Hills.

We have a large, rambling, country colonial in rural NW Connecticut, close to hiking, biking, swimming, boating and skiing. The house is surrounded by Nature Conservancy land and minutes from Mohawk State Forest and Ski Area, the Housatonic River, and abundant lakes, back roads and nature preserves. Area private schools--Hotchkiss, Kent, Salisbury, Marvelwood and Indian Mountain—are within a 20 minute drive. Great Barrington, Massachusetts and Berkshire attractions are 35-45 minutes away.

Great stay in a beautiful location. Very accommodating for a last minute trip, quick to respond to questions and provided local advice for restaurants. Would definitely visit again, superb host. Thanks!

Such a warm , genuine welcome in a typical Cornwall home. Prettiest corner of the USA: forests, ferns, dry stone walls, red iron bridges, Dutch barns, lakes and hills. The towns are beautiful, with good amenities and restaurants. You’ll wonder why you are leaving.

This is a lovely secluded place to stay, and Amelia is helpful and willing to share her home and the area with visitors. There is a new restaurant in West Cornwall that looks promising for people staying here and it's right next to a great covered bridge. Amelia's is off the…

Amelia was a gracious host. Her home was warm and inviting, and the room was set up ideally for guests. We only stayed for a night, but it was as advertised and ideal for us.
