This is an architect-designed modernist house located right on Lake Wentworth. The house is cedar, built with thick walls, huge picture windows, a reclaimed barn floor and a cook's kitchen. It is equipped with a screened porch, a lake-view deck and a garden patio. There is a dock and a sandy beach in a quiet cove with beautiful views and sunsets. We welcome and embrace people from all backgrounds. This is a perfect place for a group of friends or family who love architecture and nature.
Our home was designed in a open plan--meaning the ground floor, with the exception of the guest bedroom is one large open room with a wall of windows facing the lake. The kitchen, located at the south end is also open. It has a large granite island with cook top and oven inset. We are a food-focused family and very much enjoy buying local foods from our wonderful farmer neighbors. We have a large stone fire place for cooler nights and the floor in the sitting area is equip with outlets for the lap top users convenience. The owners are an artist and writer and the house is filled with original art. The overall aesthetic is minimal and open. The upstairs quarters are divided into three bedrooms and two large bathrooms with oversized cast iron bathtubs, floating toilets and soap stone vanities. Each bedroom has a spectacular view through the pines out onto the lake.
- There is absolutely no smoking in the house or on our property. Please respect this rule, it is very important to us.
- Guests must be aware that, especially in warmer months we can have sudden rain showers. If you are planning to leave the house for more than a short time you should shut the windows.
- We would appreciate guests being attentive to mud, pine needles and sand and leave shoes in the entry, wipe off feet if coming from lakeside.
