I enjoyed reading reviews for Laurel's place even before I got there. Personally speaking her house gave me a lot of inspiration, on how to decorate your home, on how to record and reflect your life adventures, especially in the wildernesses in southern Utah. And I don't need to mention how clean, tidy and cozy the place was, read other reviews :) We also had great conversations during our breakfast/dinner together. Wonderful experience!

She was such a wonderful and graceful host. It was pouring down rain and her basement was flooding, but she greeted us in the storm and was so clam and handled the "crisis" well. Her place is awesome. You can see her love for her community in her decor and her conversations. She has great ideas for things to do. And she made a wonderful and delicious breakfast for us. Take her advice as for what to do and I also recommend to plan more time than you think you'll need or want. There is way too much great stuff to do in Kanab!!

We couldn't have asked for a better hostess. When my 12 year old son and I showed up at Laurel's door for the first time, he had a fever, and it turns out, pneumonia. Laurel didn't hesitate, but took us right in, and set a doctor's appointment for the next day. She got us settled that night, and proceeded to take great care of us, while I figured out how to make him comfortable. As he got better, we were able to finally experience some of the AMAZING adventures that Laurel had arranged for us before we arrived, including wonderful trips with Mike Henrie from Kanab Western Adventures. Because of Laurel and her expertise, my son and I were able to have the trip of a lifetime. I wouldn't change a thing.

We had a great time in Kanab. Laurel and Russell know a plethora of information about Utah and the National Parks. Breakfast was always amazing and unique to Airbnb so it was appreciated immensely. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Thanks Laurel and Russell for a great week in Kanab.

Our stay at laurel's place was ok. Our accommodation was clean and cozy, although, being it in the basement, darker than I expected. The house is conveniently located, just off kanab's main road. Laurel is nice and makes good breakfasts.

Response from Laurel:
As a Host, I would suggest that you not leave baby diapers on the bureau and please be more respectful of the host space. The entire garden was yours, yet you trespassed on our private space to enter the garden and were unpleasantly noisy. Please understand that resident hosts are not servants.

My husband, dog, and I had a wonderful 3-night stay at Savage Point. The rooms were private and well appointed and the garden, yard, and water features felt like a secret oasis in the high altitude desert. Laurel makes delicious breakfasts--more than enough fuel for your Utah adventure. She and Russell were warm, friendly, and full of suggestions for local hikes, roads less traveled, and the best places to eat in and around town. We enjoyed our stay and plan to come back in the fall.

Even after living in Southern Utah for 48-years I have much more exploring to do. Originally came from Northern California, miss the ocean and running thru the woodlands and coastal trails but everything about the High Desert fascinates me now. I am a Writer/ art historian and have worked in South America, Europe, Northern & South Africa, Greece & Turkey. I like to paint, hike, read, am a movie buff and enjoy our ever expanding garden (a couple from Moscow just proudly posed for photos holding our 22" Armenian cucumbers!) and most certainly our very special animals.
Russell and I enjoy meeting new people and sharing stories. Russell was a Rock n Roll Musician in LA and abroad for 20 years, taught in a Music Conservatory in Helsinki, Finland and now is a Park Ranger with Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
We both definitely enjoy the cultural diversity of our guests and look forward to helping our guests enjoy their stay in the SouthWest.
