The 1870 Farm is very close to UNC , the restaurants and Franklin Street, family-friendly activities. You’ll love my place because of the serenity of living on a farm- the animals-fresh farm eggs that you can pick each morning- fish in the pond and it's all less than 5 minutes to the UNC Campus. It is a very unique property and there are chickens, alpaca's, sheep, goats, donkeys and more on this beautiful 17 acre property with fully stocked fishing pond. We generally only rent on weekends.

What a find and so close to Chapel Hill. We rented the house during UNC graduation weekend and had my older parents, and family with us. So nice to have a gathering spot in the morning and evenings. The farm is 9 minutes from Franklin Street, yet you feel like you are out in the country... and you are, with chickens, lamas, donkeys and more. The two rooms up have twin beds, and one down has a queen. Steep steps but sturdy. Could use a bit more lighting... but Remember this is a home built in 1870 so not perfect, but full of character. The host greeted us with wine, flowers and most kitchen amenities. It was just lovely. I highly recommend it especially if you have young kids.

David and Amanda's Farmhouse is absolutely beautiful. A great place to stay and relax and still be close to town.

I had an amazing stay at 1870 farm! It's so idillic with majestic old trees and so many cute and friendly animals! You feel deep in the country even though it's also super close to town, UNC and many great restaurants. The house was well decorated to match the farm surroundings. Very farm house chic and made for the perfect girls weekend. It's definitely an older house with quirks. The stairs are steep to the upstairs bedroom so it may be difficult if stairs are a challenge but the downstairs bedroom is accessible and lovely! Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone and cannot wait to come back.

We are a family that spends time on our farm but not in the Farm house and recently decided to allow guest to enjoy the farm house on weekends. Originally from New York we have had the opportunity to live in wonderful place like the Hampton's, Santa Barbara and the South of France. We now call Chapel Hill home as we love the diversity of the people and the college town atmosphere. The farm is a labor of love and we eventually hope to create a green care farm on the property for seniors and children to work together.
