The Artist Studio is close to parks and art and culture. You’ll love my place because of the comfy bed, the coziness, the high ceilings, and the modern kitchen and island. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and of course families (with kids).

The space

The Artist Studio is a new construction, completed in 2015. It is the 20th unit we have built on Mount Desert Island since 2001. It is swank, hip, and modern. High end construction, and virtually soundproof to the outside world.

Guest access

The Artist Studio is the entire second floor of our building. It is accessed by covered second floor steps going up the exterior of the building. There is nobody below, just sometimes my old Scout truck.

Interaction with guests

We love to meet our guests and provide a restaurant guide and hiking maps on arrival. We are happy to give recommendations on activities based on your interests. Do like sailing? Hiking? Shopping? Night life? There is also a nice walk through the woods behind the Artist Studio that goes right to the causeway on Norwood Cove (that's our secret).

Victoria and Marc were amazing hosts! They thought of everything and were so accommodating. Marc was super responsive with all of our questions and offered SUPERB suggestions on how to enjoy the area. I want to come back and bring more friends or family!! You will not be disappointed by your stay here! Thank you!!!

The Artist studio was a great place to stay, and really close by car to Bar Harbor and Cadillac Mountain and other places of interest in Southwest Harbor. The Studio is very well kitted out with everything you will need while you are there, it is modern, clean and the rooms are spacious. We especially loved the large super king bed and a spacious shower . It was fantastic to have a washing machine and dryer, and of course the dishwasher was well used too. Marc and Victoria were great hosts, close enough to ask any questions, and they let us know of "must see" things to do without being intrusive. We really appreciated the milk, juice and fruit, so nice to wake and be able to have a cuppa first thing in the morning. We would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a comfortable and easy place to stay.

Where do I begin with this review? Why I Chose the Artist Studio: I must say if you pass this place up in your AirB&B search you will be sorry! The component that really sold me on this place was the pet-free atmosphere. It is hard to find an AirB&B that is free of pet hair and dander for my family since we have severe allergies to animals. Once I started to assess the other amenities it was a “no-brainer”. Additionally, my niece and I have shellfish allergies and it is a rarity to find a place that has a separate cooking space for those who like to eat Lobster. The Interior and Exterior: The modern decor and energy efficiency of the studio is stellar. You can tell that there was an immense effort and thought put into the design from the marble threshold in the master suite bathroom, the all natural products used to clean (the aromatherapy dish soap was my favorite), how well the colors and decor flowed from one room to the other, and the energy efficient appliances. As a professional who specializes in energy management, I was very pleased. I wanted to take the bed in the master suite home with me. If you are the type of person who enjoys a great night’s rest, this is the place for you. All electronics had a friendly user interface and we did not have any issues. There is a large dining room table which we had 3 square meals a day family style that you will enjoy. I can go on and on here. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking on the grill, sitting outside on the patio furniture. I really appreciated the craftsmanship of the stairs and landing leading up to the door and felt comfortable that my niece was not going to get any splinters when she traversed the staircase barefoot. It was a pleasure not to have to keep track of any keys since the entry door has a code system. There is another location with a larger outdoor space, common area, and other amenities that you need to explore also! Hosts: Marc was very accommodating. As a person with a type A personality, I appreciated the thoroughness of the information packet, maps, and suggestions that he gave. What I enjoyed the most was strolling in downtown Southwest Harbor, making friends with 3 families at the Causeway which is a quick jaunt from the Artist Studio, exploring the attractions in Bar Harbor such as Cadillac Mountain and Park Loop Road, staying up until 4AM telling childhood stories, and having dance jam sessions with my sisters and niece in honor of my late father (it was great that we didn't have anyone below us; an additional perk of this place). It was effortlessly one of the best vacations and if I had not stumbled upon this place, these memories wouldn’t exist. My niece enjoyed herself so much, she just had to leave Marc and Victoria a card...

Our family had a wonderful time at the Artist's studio. Marc and Victoria welcomed us warmly and provided us with many useful information such as where to go, what to eat and what to see. As this was a first trip for our family to Maine, such information was extremely helpful. The Artists' Studio itself was a great place. It was well-maintained, clean and convenient. We could not have asked for better home away from home. We especially liked the heater in the bathroom!! Thanks Marc and Victoria
