Maiala is the perfect get away for couples, solo adventurers, and families. Amity Point is a quiet fishing village between Dunwich and Point Lookout. The house is a short walk to forest tracks, beach, enclosed pool, cafe and General Store. Relax in the evenings watching beautiful sunsets; you can spot dolphins, koalas, kangaroos and numerous birds that abound in the area. De-stress from the many distractions of modern life (including TV and wife) and immerse yourself in our pristine island.

The space
Maiala is a traditional 1960s beach house full of light and cool breezes, with ceiling fans in all the main rooms. I have spent the last few years renovating the house and outdoor areas, as well as working in the garden, so it really is a work in progress but very comfortable and homey. This year the major renovations will be completed with a new outdoor dining area which will extend the living space and improve facilities for guests.

Amity such a relaxing place that I visit as often as I can and do not miss TV or the internet for a minute. In the evenings it is great to sit on the front verandah and listen to the birds settling down for the night (don't forget insect repellent though. The insects on Stradbroke are notorious!) and the frogs gearing up. I am sure you will greatly enjoy your stay at Maiala.

Where you’ll be

Amity Point, Queensland, Australia

Amity Point is a quiet and quaint fishing village full of old beach shacks as well as more modern, sophisticated houses. It really feels like you have gone back in time. The township is situated on Moreton Bay and adjoins the Pacific Ocean. From Amity Beach you can see across the bay to Moreton Island. Seashells Cafe and the Amity Point Community Club are the local eateries or you can pick up some fresh seafood at Rufus King Seafood in Sovereign Road and cook at home. There are other restaurants at Point Lookout and Dunwich.

Amity Point is a quiet fishing village; it is a haven for Australian flora and fauna and the perfect place to explore the Island. My home is short walk to the beach where bird and marine life abound. During your stay

Although I visit the island regularly, I may not be on the island when you are visiting but my brother and sister-in-law live just around the corner and they will be your point of contact. I will also be contactable via phone or the Air B&B site which notifies my mobile.
