Kerouac is off-grid and rustic. Its on a mesa at 6800 feet. Its close to art and culture, has magical views, with restaurants and dining nearby in Madrid, NM. Santa Fe and Santa Fe is 30 minutes north and Albuquerque is one hour south.

Shanti Community is good for couples, families, friends, pets and solo adventurers.

Check out our other rentals too! The Tortilla bus, Dharma Bum bus, Golden Dawn, Shanti Yurt, and Dusk till Dawn at Shanti Community!

The space
Kerouac is a 71 vw bus which has travelled much of this country and went into ‘retirement’ at Shanti in 2017 and is being shared with travelers from around the world. Kerouac has a deck with a hammock. A cooler is available, but bring ice. The main bed sleeps one to two.
The bathroom is a rustic outhouse and the shower is a simple enclosed solar bag shower. We are on solar so there is electricity available for lights and phone charging.

Hike the canyon. Fall asleep to the sounds of coyotes and owls on a mesa 5 miles from the artist village of Madrid, NM.

Outdoor Restorative Yoga for anyBody is available for $10/person most mornings at 9 am with advanced notice.

We are an off-grid community located just two miles off of the world-famous Turquoise Trail (Hwy 14). Once you get here, the two miles feel more like 100 miles away from the rest of the world....the views are epic and the vibes are relaxing and slow.

Our two-mile dirt road is similar to most US Forest Service roads one might use got access beautiful backcountry and pristine wilderness areas. Take it slow, crank up an awesome playlist, and enjoy the ride!

Hi, I'm Shelly, an off-grid, high desert, yurt dwelling, artist, musician, traveller and lover of life! The ten acres where our converted school buses and yurts reside is on a mesa a few short miles from the artist village of madrid, new mexico. Going to sleep and then waking to the sound of coyotes, owls, and nearby roosters, with 360 degree views is magical beyond description. Hiking on the land is incredible, and so are the sunsets and sunrises! Madrid has fabulous restaurants and 30 plus galleries with only 300 residents. The eco friendly off-grid land where we live and are passionate about sharing, offers the best of both.... peaceful privacy and community. Bri is my partner in life and in business and is Shanti’s other host. Up at Shanti, Bri teaches restorative yoga for anyBody, hosts a 200-hr YTT called emBodied Yoga School of NM, facilitates yoga retreats, and offers thai yoga massage. Her background is in wilderness therapy and she is excited to be a part of the team! We both look forward to connecting with you and helping to make your stay as memorable as possible!
