A cozy, traditional stone house nestled in the mountains - it really doesn’t get any better. The house was well stocked with amenities, beautifully decorated, and set in a friendly, quaint village. We stayed here in late November, and while it was a bit chilly when we first arrived, the huge stone fireplace had us warmed up in no time. Sotiris is a very attentive and polite host, and he made sure we were well looked after. The taverna on the village square hosted us for a delicious dinner in the evening, and we had a great time chatting and eating with everyone there. The drive itself was even beautiful - sheer cliffs, huge mountains, and little villages in the valleys along the way. I hope to be back some day! Thank you Sotiris and Lakis (at the taverna) for a lovely visit to Athamania!

We chose Sotiris's house not really knowing where it was, except that the house looked lovely on the photos and it was within range of Meteora which we intended to visit over a 3 days period. And so we arrived in Athamania, a tiny village in the middle of the mountains where we had a delightful time and didn't leave for 2 days. The house is perfect and very cosy. Sotiris's family welcomed us as friends with gifts and we immediately felt at home. The mountain roads are tough but the scenery is stunning. There is a wonderful taverna in the village where everyone gathers under the tree to drink and laugh and talk (and eat!). There are many hicking trails up the mountain and along the river. The next village has a few more commodidities, is within walking distance (3km) and has a large animated village square (in the summer). You can buy trout at the nearby fish farm in Athamania and listen to the many squirrels all round. In the morning you are woken up by the goats bells which were so lovely that we recorded them. Unforgettable Meteora is within an hour and a half driving distance. We truly loved our stay there. The house is very comfortable and well equipped and even though the village is isolated, we felt it was a perfect choice to experience a little bit of real Greek mountain life. We left having made new friends and would recommend Sotiris's house to anyone looking for peace, stunning landscapes, and a place to call home while travelling through Central Greece. A car is necessary as well as some sense of adventure driving up the mountain roads. For us it was an unforgettable moment of our trip and we wished we had stayed longer. Thank you Sotiris and family!
