La Casita is a quirky little place for a couple looking for an adventure in Las Terrenas. It is separated into an upper and lower portion with an additional outdoor patio with outdoor shower. It was different than other places I have stayed in the DR but I liked it. One downside about the divided levels. was having to walk upstairs in the dark to the bathroom which was in the upper level. There is Wi-Fi, but it isn't reliable. There are quite a few bugs, but there is a fan and a mosquito net - no AC. My wife had a bunch of bites each morning after she woke up. They were different from mosquito bites, so we suspect that there is a slight bed bug infestation with the linens of the bedroom. I, however, didn't have any issue with bugs. We sprayed a little bug spray after we showered and turned on the fan full blast and it wasn't too bad, but could have been more comfortable. Leif was very helpful and friendly. He picked us up from the bus stop and dropped us off when our stay was over. He responded quite well through (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) which was nice. La Casita is about a 10-15 minute walk from the action in Las Terrenas. We would walk it in the morning and take a Motoconcho at night. There is a steep climb from the street to La Casita. It isn't as crazy as other reviews have made it seem, but it isn't easy after having spent the entire day walking around and swimming. The upper portion of La Casita where the the kitchen and bathroom are located wasn't sealed off to protect from bugs. It wasn't an issue during the day, but if you turn on a light to cook dinner or go to the bathroom/take a shower, be prepared to be attacked by moths and mosquitos. I lived in the DR for 2 years, and this was my 3rd time visiting and I am used to bugs, but it was actually crazy how many would swarm the light at night. Again, it isn't that bad, but if you are used to no bugs and having AC, you had better go somewhere else. All in all, my wife had fun with our adventure - 4 nights - in La Casita, but we wouldn't go back. We would try to find something closer to the beach, that had AC in the bedroom, and was at least sealed off to prevent too many bugs from getting in. It was still a fun vacation and will not be forgotten.
