We really enjoyed our stay in Linda's apartment. It was in a great location close to the Bund and it was fantastic to see the Pearl Tower from the end of the street. We liked that it was a bit more of a genuine neighbourhood, rather than a touristy one. The apartment was stylish …

We were clear with Linda that we would not have access to wifi nor phone service so she needed to be there to help us gain entry. Her apartment is located on a small street in Shanghai. It is very dark upon entering the building and very dark hallways. If you have never been to …

I feel INDIGNANT while reading this comment not conforming to the facts. - NEITHER BARRY NOR HIS WIFE GIGI HAD EVER ASKED ME TO STAY THERE TO CHECK IN, through any way of communication (Airbnb chat, (Hidden by Airbnb) , phone call or email)!!! I have informed Gigi on (Hidden by Airbnb) one week & 2 days & right in the morning before their arrival, that the key is in the Lockbox next to the door and they need to get the key with their code, pretty sure Gigi had received as she msged me with positive reply. NOT ANY INFO about this "BE THERE" request. Also in my Airbnb instruction, the check in way is "self check in by lockbox". - NO ONE had ever told me they had no access to wifi nor phone call. I've given them my phone number and told them they can call me if they need any help once they booked my home. I tried to contact them about the check in status thru msg, phone call & (Hidden by Airbnb) several times during their arriving time but not any reply. The only reply I got was the cancellation msg by Airbnb one day after. - About the neighborhood. In the instruction on Airbnb, I have specified it is in a heritage old house and the corridor maybe dark. I have also informed Barry and Gigi twice that he might feel uncomfortable about it as a foreigner. The only reply about this was "Barry loves this feel", "Let's just arrive and then decide the next step." Still be kind, I guess Barry didn't quite know the conversation between me and Gigi cuz that's in Chinese (Gigi is Chinese). They may blamed each other for not preparing well and finally I became this scapegoat and got this disgusting comment. Or they found the building was old while arriving and just want to cancel the reservation. When they found the room was already charged due to Airbnb rules, they got mad to me with this comment. This is a really annoying and disappointing experience during my host time in Airbnb.

Linda was a great help with suggestions on what to do in the city as well as working with my schedule. The only less than great part about this place was that the apartment building is dark which was a little off putting but in the end it was fine! Great location and a great host…
