Description

The space

If you come here you will be well looked after. We love meeting people and making sure they have a good time and are comfortable.

Our house is a characterful two hundred-year-old building, with colourful Fantasy décor. Guests can stay in a number of rooms. Two single beds and two double beds are available over three rooms. Guest can use one floor of the building exclusively. Here they can enjoy an en-suite bathroom/shower that is connected to another room. Guests can have exclusive use of two large rooms and own bathroom. We also have another double room that is next to a shared bathroom. (Shared with hosts, if we are around). We provide kettles tea/coffee/herbal tea in the rooms. We also provide hairdryers, towels. and toiletries.

The house is clean, comfortable yet sensual. We are not minimalists and some of the art is mildly erotic/Pagan.This is not a conventional type of property. Kids are welcome, but this is not a great venue for families for several reasons.

We offer a suite of rooms which comprises a large living space and a bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and shower. A kitchen in the basement is shared as a breakfast space. PLEASE NOTE -Kitchen is not exclusively used for guests, unless we are away.

We live right by the train station which provides regular trains to the heart of Liverpool centre (20-minute journey). Convenient for experiencing the city's lively and exciting cultural offering.

We have a mirrored dance studio for rehearsal/yoga/fitness/socialising.

We have wifi with internet access. Also a screen / DVD Player and comprehensive DVD collection for film buffs.

The accommodation is also within easy reach of beautiful beaches and walks, with access to North Wirral's sandy coastline and nature reserves, while also experiencing the peace and serenity of staying in a quiet, seaside residence. Do not come here if you want to step out to the hustle and bustle of Liverpool centre.

Our house is central for the best art galleries outside London. Other attractions are the beautiful, famous sunsets, skylines and all the many attractions the buzzing and cultural city of Liverpool has to offer. The historic town of Chester is 45 minutes away. An hours drive and you are in Wales with its castles and countryside. A walk away we have quality dining as well as affordable bohemian eateries, from a variety of restaurants (Some on the seafront.)

New Brighton has its own interesting history which we are happy to discuss.

Ishtar, your host, was born and brought up in central Liverpool and knows much about the history of the place, as well as being able to recommend cool places to go.

Ishtar is a dancer (also musician and writer) and her partner is involved in creating sustainable communities and has a background in film. The family have a Chihuahua (called Fifi) who loves visitors. They also have very friendly and sweet snakes called 'Bashar' and 'Xenia'. who are kept upstairs in a secure vivarium (so no need to see them if you don't like snakes )!

We may consider small, well-behaved dogs/cats or other pets including reptiles (Please ask).

We have a small walled 'fairy' garden, you may smoke out there but not in the house.

The house was filmed for a TV interior design program. If you don't want your senses stimulated and like neutral/white spaces, then this is not the place for you.

Your hosts are both very warm and friendly. We welcome people from other cultures and alternative, creative and interesting lifestyles. Those on the LGBT spectrum are more than welcome.

The house contains original art works, unusual multi-cultural décor and a variety of international spiritual icons. It is generally a creative and space we recognise that certain people appreciate such things and we hope these are the ones who will choose to stay with us.
If you require your own space for private contemplation and/or work, we will respect this.

This price includes a breakfast. Other meals can be provided at extra cost. Yoga/dance lessons on request. We have home cinema and can arrange for you to watch your fave films on the big screen (we may charge a small fee). Ishtar has also been an events organiser for twenty years so can help find venues/entertainment/catering etc. if needed. The living room and studio can be used as a meeting space. The studio has a projector for presentations/films.

We can advise and assist you on local attractions and events. Including cool places to go, Liverpool cultural events, nearby neolithic monuments and other historical sites and places of interest in Merseyside and North Wales.

Guest access

Rehearsal and exercise studio, small walled garden, dining room, bathrooms, Kitchen- Breakfast. Please ask if you want to cook in our kitchen in the evening as this needs to be done by arrangement. Tea/ coffee/herbal tea free. We provide towels and toiletries.

Interaction with guests

We love meeting new people and chatting, however if this is not what the guest requires, we will leave them to have their own space. Our house is big enough for people to have privacy.

The neighbourhood

The area has many beautiful buildings. It is near the sea, the beaches are clean with lovely golden sand. We are also near nature reserves. It is very quiet and friendly with lots of nice places to eat just a short walk away. This is ideal if you want a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet you are only a 20 minute drive/train journey away for Liverpool centre.

Getting around

Three minute walk to New Brighton train station on the Wirral Line. (Trains every 15 mins to Liverpool city centre and surrounding areas). Trains take 20 mins to get to Liverpool centre. Reliable taxi services to Liverpool from around £15.

Other things to note

We love people to feel at home and relaxed in our space and be themselves. People from alternative, psychedelic, gay and ethnic communities are very welcome.

A kettle and tea and coffee are provided in the rooms as are hair dryers.

You don't have to creep around as our bedroom is two floors away from yours.

Please note our house is a work of art, but it is not to everyone's taste. If you don't like art with erotic/spiritual/pagan themes then please don't come. Fundamentalist religious people may find our place to be not to their taste.

We welcome those who share our taste and lifestyle. Our house contains recycled/reclaimed/antique objects. It is an old house (almost 200 years) with a story. If you like the minimalist, corporate off the shelf look, full of shiny new white things and massive flat screen TV's, this is not the place for you. This is an old house IT IS CLEAN, but it is not new, so if you need everywhere to be very highly scrubbed and polished like a hospital room with no animal hairs this is probably not the right place for you.

We have animals who are friendly. If you don't like animals or have allergies, or will freak out at the sight of an animal hair, (we have a white dog) then this is not for you either.

This house has big rooms and high ceilings. It is not freezing, but in the winter it is not the warmest house in the world.

If you are a group of more than two people, please consider you may all be sharing one bathroom and that is en suite from one of the bedrooms.

We really welcome easy going people who are broad minded. Most of our reviews have been very positive (Please read). Very occasionally we have had poor reviews, they have come from those who have not read the description properly and are from people not compatible to the space or the hosts. Please check with other people you may bring with you that this space is for them.

We will do our best to accommodate your needs, desires and food
preferences (within reason)! Please let us know how we can help and assist you in any way.

Belly dance/Bollywood dance/Yoga /goddess workshops/English lessons/ /Spa therapies/tours to nearby sacred and neolithic monuments/tours of Liverpool are available from us or our friends. Please enquire.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Ishtar, who was a friendly and welcoming host, and a facinating person to meet. Her home is delightful. Querkie and completely individual. It may not be to everyone's taste, but it worked for us.

We booked Ishtar's place under a very short notice as there was some problems with the previous airbnb host. Gratefully, Ishtar accommodated us with warm welcomes. The rooms were exactly as advertised and we're clean and comfy. Although a but far from Liverpool's city centre, public transit were a short distance away and we had no trouble finding them. It was a great weekend to have spent at Ishtar's place!

The house is lovely, amazing wooden floors, host made us welcome and wasn't overbearing. Transport links are great and cheap and it was good to see around New Brighton too.

With a place so artistic and beautiful, it feels as though a poem is the only thing fitting to describe this place. A lovely artsy place. Close to a train in New Brighton Ishtar and Pete, are those who entertain and enlighten. But traveller beware...especially if you're square. Because if you're stuck up... You won't like it here. If you're heart is open. Then so are their doors. They gave us breakfast and songs and much, much more. It is close to downtown, but removed if you need. Go to the cavern club for a drink, or hangout by the sea. Ishtar is what this whole Air BnB thing is about. So if you are staying in Liverpool give them a shout!
