Manifold Cottage is an above average sized two person pet-free non-smoking cottage in one of the 'honey-pot' villages of the Peak District, located just yards from the River Dove. The cottage has plenty of charachter features, in particular a large heavily beamed bedroom open to the rafters. The bedroom has a king-sized bed (and second television). Downstairs the TV offers full sky programmes and there is super fast wifi throughout.

The space
The living room has a log effect stove with a fabric settee and a comfortable wingchair plus a TV and DVD player. The TV receives the full range of sky programmes, so including sky sports and films channels. There is good wifi throughout the cottage. Additionally there is fully controllable central heating throughout. The cottage has a full sized bathroom with shower over the bath. In January 2019 the bathroom was completed gutted - not that there was anything wrong with it, it was just we had taken out the immersion heater, giving us the opportunity of creating a lot more space, so went the whole way and changed everything. So there is now a very smart and modern bathroom indeed, still with bath with shower over! Then the following month, on 26th February 2019, we upgraded the wifi to super-fast fibre. The kitchen has imposing real granite sinks, gloss worktops, There are top of the range laminated floors of the highest quality throughout (where not carpeted).
The cottage is centrally located in a private courtyard consisting of three cottages, and is therefore able to offer peace and quiet despite being in the heart of the village which at times during the main tourist season or at weekends becomes fairly busy. In the courtyard there is a barbecue and laundry room and a dedicated parking space, so just yards from the cottage. There is some limited outdoor seating area with flower borders
In the cottage there are ten (!) highly praised personalised information folders, ensuring guests are able to take maximum advantage of their stay in Hartington and its environs.
On the other side of the courtyard, as well as a laundry room, there is a 'Sky sports' room with 55 inch TV and surround sounds, again offering all the Sky channels but also BT sports. This room is shared with the two other cottages in the courtyard but little used due to all cottages having their own sky channels so guests can be pretty confident that when using it they will be the only ones in there.
Please note that rentals include heating electric towels and linen (and full sky tv programmes and super fast wifi)

Location

Hartington, England, United Kingdom

Hartington itself is one of the honey-pot villages in the Peak District, being regarded as an excellent base for walking and cycling. This is helped by its location only a couple of hundred yards from the River Dove, which can easily be reached from the village over an attractive meadow and from there, there is an excellent riverside path down to Dovedale, the most famous area of the Peak District). As a result the village is able to support, despite only having 130 houses, several tea shops, two (excellent) coaching inns, a delicatessen, a grocers, two gift shops, a post office an art studio an antiques shop and famous cheese shop to which many make a point of travelling from miles around. There is also a duck pond which acts as a magnet for many visitors.
The village is approached down a gorgeous but easily driven 2 mile long dale road from one of the Peak District's main artery roads, making it extraordinarily easy to get around to visit the numerous attractions in the Peak District.

Married to Frances, with whom I share responsibilities for this property, I deal mainly with marketing, frances responsibility is attention to detail! We have in fact run holiday cottages now for 22 years, initially where we lived until a year ago, (where eventually after undertaking various barn conversions we had six in addition to three here in Hartington.) The six holiday lets on the land where we lived were sold a year ago when we moved, but because we still enjoyed the holiday lettings business, we have kept the three we own in Hartington. Our primary concern is to ensure that guests have a good stay, and we go to considerable lengths (in a way too tedious to explain simply in an entry on a web site such as this) to assist in that regard - and our other concern is to avoid complaints! We are only too aware that for many guests this might be their only holiday of the year and we certainly dont want to disappoint them. The reviews on this and other similar web sites (where all reviews were 5 star) and entries in our visitors book repeatedly confirm our professionalism, our commitment and our enthusiasm for the area.
