Romantic hideaway cottage and garden in secluded location in the village of Tighnabruaich.

It has been used as an artist's home and workspace since 2003.

Enjoy open plan living with a contemporary beach house feel overlooking a mature secluded garden in the stunning surroundings of Argyll.

The space

The cottage has an open plan living space with a wood burning stove and modern newly fitted kitchen. From the living space french windows lead on to a veranda which overlooks the secluded garden. The entrance hallway, which can be used as a dining room, leads through to the double bedroom and bathroom. Light "New England" colours are used throughout the cottage to create a calm and peaceful space.

Open Plan Living Space

The living area has comfortable seating (settee and three arm chairs), wood burning stove, radio, CD player, DVD player, and Wi-Fi. Please note we do not have a TV but you will be able to watch BBC iPlayer etc if you bring your own laptop or tablet. An initial supply of logs and kindling will be provided on arrival.

The kitchen has an induction hob, freestanding double oven, and integrated fridge. The kitchen cupboards are fully stocked with crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and tea towels. Tea, coffee, and sugar is provided along with the usual dry store cupboard staples and cleaning products.

Bedroom

The bedroom has a double bed and built-in wardrobe/storage space . The vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board is stored in the bedroom cupboard. There is a dressing table - a hairdryer is stored in the drawer.

Shower Room

This has an electric shower and heated towel rail. Towels are provided along with basic toiletries.

Hallway/Dining Room

The front door opens on to a hallway which has a dining table and seating for four. It has a storage bench and a variety of books and guides on wall mounted shelves. Double doors lead into the living area and kitchen.

Heating

Electric heating is provided throughout as an addition to the very efficient wood burning stove.

Guest access

Guests have full and exclusive access to the cottage and private gardens.

Interaction with guests

I live on the property adjacent to the cottage and I hope to be there to greet you on your arrival and to be on hand when needed to answer any of your queries. In the event that I can't be there when you arrive the cottage can be accessed using the key kept in the key safe. Telephone numbers will be provided so that I can be contacted at other times.
An information pack will be provided which should prove helpful.

Other things to note

The cottage sits at the end of a private track/driveway and can be accessed by car and on foot. Parking is provided next to the cottage. There is a small flight of stairs leading to the front door and is therefore unsuitable for wheelchair users.

The house is not suitable for young children; there is a small garden pond and two running burns, one on either side of the cottage.

There is a washing machine for your use located in the studio building next to the cottage. It is normally unlocked.

Mobile phone coverage can be patchy in this area of Argyll. Vodafone provides the best coverage.

Smoking is not permitted in the cottage.

Unfortunately pets are not allowed.

Heather was a great host - there were thoughtful little touches that were such a nice surprise and the place was so cosy and comfortable. Before arriving, she provided us with an extensive list of local places to eat and visit so we were able to arrive prepared (and they were great recommendations - the Oystercatcher in particular!) We would definitely recommend Heather's place and hope to return soon, too!

A lovely few days spent here. The cottage is very pretty and in a quiet and secluded spot. It is also very well equipped with all the basic store cupboard needs and a beautifully fitted kitchen. Flowers ,candles, paintings and bubbles in the fridge, made it feel like home. Weather not great but that meant we could use the log burner! A good place to eat in the village is Boatanica. Highly recommend Heather's cottage.

A lovely cottage and very well equiped. Nice and private and ideal for a couple wanting a getaway experience. Plenty of space for 2. Easy access to Tighnebruich and walks round the Cowal Peninsular. A thoughtful host so plenty of opportunity to ask questions etc. This made for a very relaxing and rewarding break.

We would really recommend this accommodation for a short break away from it all. Very tranquil in a beautiful setting. The cottage was packed full of interesting artefacts and the log burner made it very cosy in the evenings. Stunning views and lovely walks. Helen and Roger

A great place to stay if you want peace and quiet without abandoning modern comforts. The house is great, well decorated and well equipped with a fabulous garden. Although the location seems secluded, there are still a lot of things to do close by, more than enough to keep busy for 2 or 3 weeks. The hosts were quick to respond and helpful.
