We really couldn’t have asked for more. The house is just perfect in every way. We visited with our three neices and they were just as excited to explore all the house had to offer as they were to check out the rest of Orcas Island. The house is clean, comfy and lovingly equipped with everything you could possibly need. Can’t wait to come back!

My friends and I had an absolutely excellent stay at Anika's place. She was very helpful when I was trying to plan out ferries and logistics a couple of months before my trip, and the house is just beautiful! The views were way better than we even expected. We enjoyed walking down to the water for a gorgeous sunset one night, and the kitchen was perfect for our lasagna dinner. The house has a TON of books, puzzles, and some older board games and card games, so we left a copy of Sushi Go for folks to enjoy :) The huge wraparound couch and reading nook provided plenty of space for 9 of us to curl up and watch Free Willy to prepare for our whale watching trip the next day. The town of Eastsound was great! We enjoyed a meal at Madrona Bar & Grill, and Brown Bear Bakery was good for breakfast pastries. My only comment is that there seems to be a mold issue, at least in the upstairs bedroom where I stayed. I ended up having to take a couple of sick days when I returned home because of it, which was a bit of a bummer. All things considered, it was totally worth it, but I knew from the moment I woke up from my first nap in the house with congestion, a sore throat, and a cough, that I was in for a doozy.

Response from Anika:
I am astonished to hear that you feel you may have had an issue with mold. We strive to keep our home very well maintained and clean. I have searched high and low after reading your comment and can't find any signs of mold. It is our intention to not neglect any issue and take pride in taking excellent care to maintain our home. Please message me and let me know where you saw mold or if there is any chance that your symptoms could be the result of anything else, like a pollen allergy or a reaction to new furniture or mattresses. It is never my intention to neglect issues no matter how small or large so I really appreciate you letting me know of a possible problem and I look forward to taking care it. I am so sorry you got sick on your birthday vacation. All the best, -Anika

We really loved Anika's house for our family vacation. Our parents and kids loved the house. The backyard opens on ocean-front which is very calm. The view of sunset is awesome! We spent most of our time in the house and Anika has provided enough things to entertain kids (especially painting supply, books and ping pong table). Our parents spent most of their time on the deck outside where they got wonderful view of ocean.

This is a comfortable and beautiful house with a nice view over the water. Its a great place for a group of 8 or 10, and a nice location for families.

This was a great place located conveniently north of the town, and close to several landmarks on Orcas. Nice sized deck to relax and read a book while soaking in the water views. We enjoyed our stay, despite the fact that there was smoke that came from the Canadian fires. It was still much better than the conditions in Seattle. Large, clean house with views from every room in the house. The only drawback is the limited activities you can do on the private beach, since it's a typical Northwest, rocky beach.

Response from Anika:
So sorry you didn't get to enjoy our sandy beach on your short visit. For future guests we will be sure to mark the tide chart indicating what time the minus tides can be expected in order to avoid being off sight seeing and miss having fun at the beach. I want to take this opportunity to explain our beach situation to future guests. At high tide we have no beach at all in front of our house but there is a public beach one block west. During medium and low tides we have a typical northwest rocky beach. Minus tides give us a large sandy beach since the water outside our house is very shallow all the way out to the spit hundreds of feet away. Orcas is not known for sandy beaches so we are very pleased to have access to one of a handful of sandy beaches. If you would like to see what kind of tides there will be at the house prior to booking your vacation you can take a look at this website. (URL HIDDEN)

We had a wonderful time and could not have asked for better views. The kids really enjoyed the ping ping table and playing on the beach at low tide. We were fortunate to be there on a day when the visiting Orcas were visible right off the beach. What a beautiful site!

I grew up on Orcas Island and now have recently moved back to raise a family. The house we have listed is my childhood home. So excited to share it with more people once again as a vacation rental!

My top five favorite things to do on Orcas:
-Hike the south side of Turtleback Mountain for sunset
-Float in the lagoon at Moran State Park
-Go fishing and crabbing
-Have a coffee & cookie date at Teezers
-Go on a beach picnic with bread and cheese from Rose's or a take out from the Kitchen

Please let me know if you have any questions!

:) Anika
