I am semi retired, work 20 hours outside home in a health care setting. My day is kept busy with Gardening, woodworking, reading, , hiking, x-c skiing, garage sales, flea markets, painting, fabrication, bee-keeping, chicken raising, baking and banking ...but not all in one day or season.......seems to keep me busy enough!
I keep an Etsy store online by the name 'Mendingwalls',
offering collectables, antiques and ephemera, and also sell organic vegetables from the garden, in season, along the road here.
My basic reason to offer guests an economical and restful place to stay is to help pay the property taxes , which can be somewhat extreme in this area.
A wonderful side effect for me is meeting the many interesting folks that pass through these doors. I love to hear stories of places around the world that I may never visit, yet sharing my home and having others share the world they live in is endearing and reminds me that, in the end, we are all brothers and sisters and all different yet, also, all the same.
I do offer , on occasion, fresh baked goods, and a continental style breakfast here at Mendingwalls and , of course, all guests are more than welcome and encouraged to use the facilities for cooking and baking to their customs and diet.
In my 3 listing I have mentioned 'no parties' . I do want to say that guests are welcome as long as they observe the house rules, the major rule here and my life's motto, 'be kind'
SO , Welcome if you reserve a room or rooms and if you do not, then , hopefully we will see you down the road, literally and figuratively ! :-)..... in beautiful Washington County NY,
Safe travels all!
