Bank Chambers is a conversion of the upper floors of a Grade II listed building that was one of the oldest bank buildings outside London. Built in 1881 of red brick construction as a statement of prosperity, instead of the more commonly used stone of the Georgian era, the building sits prominently above its surroundings in the centre of the market town of Knaresborough in North Yorkshire.

The space

Apartment 4 is on the third floor, and is an ideal 2 bedroom apartment for family guests or groups with young children. Consisting of a double bedroom with adjoining walk in wardrobe or children’s cot space and a second bedroom with adult sized bunk beds. The kitchen-diner includes a double sofa bed for occasional use. The spacious bathroom has a bath and overhead dual head shower.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the full apartment.

Interaction with guests

In Hot Property operate smart locks with the ability to check guests in remotely. We enjoy hosting guests from all over the world and where we can, we try to meet guests to show them around the apartment. However, this is not always possible so we provide a warm welcome pack with our tablet devices that have a short video providing more details of the apartment.

Other things to note

With spectacular views and Grade II listed buildings, come quite a few stairs, 72 in total. For this reason, unfortunately, we don't recommend this apartment for disabled or elderly guests.

** A HIDDEN GEM** Nestled away on a busy high street, In Hot Property have come up trumps with these serviced apartments.  There are 4 in total, and we have been staying in Apartment 4 on the top floor. First impressions are wonderful.  On entering Bank Chambers, you are greeted by the most beautiful period doorway, and a wonderfully clean, light and airy hallway with the most grand sweeping staircase I've ever seen.  It is truly beautiful, and being on the top floor, I had the pleasure of climbing it! Apartment 4 has two bedrooms, a lovely double bedroom with walk in wardrobe and a second bedroom with bunk beds. The kitchen diner is light and airy and well equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, cooker and hob, toaster and superb collection of kitchen knives (I often find holiday properties have really rubbish, blunt knives, so this was a mega plus from me!). The lounge area has a sofa (which is also doubles as a sofa bed), two lovely tub chairs by the window overlooking the high street, and a wall mounted television.  All in all, I felt like I was in a swanky London pad (note to self, must visit Vauxhall Apartments in London!). We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed various walks down by the river, a visit to Mother Shipton's Cave, Knaresborough Castle, a day trip to Fountain's Abbey and Water Gardens (well worth a trip particularly if you are a young family and National Trust Members), and Ripley Castle. We were on a childcare weekend so were quite laid back with our plans, but there is so much to do very close by. As recommended by Mark, we sampled the dinner menu at Carriages Wine Bar just down the road which was delicious, we also had a delicious Sunday lunch at the Boar's Head in Ripley (just 15 minutes away). There are plenty of independent cafes and tea rooms for lunches and cakes, we had a yummy scone and shortbread down by the river. All in all, it was a fabulous weekend, and we would definitely recommend staying at Bank Chambers.

Great position in Main Street but noise not a problem. Great apartment, newly renovated. Stair climb is worth the effort.
