Hi! Our listing has changed for the remainder of the pandemic: Nov, Dec., Jan., Feb. and March are available for minimum thirty-day stays. Everything else is the same! Your lovely peaceful apartment shares a wall with our 1794 farmhouse. Enjoy the tranquility but still be only 2.4 miles from the center of Ashfield, 30 minutes from Northampton and Old Deerfield, less than 20 minutes to Berkshire East Mountain Resort, 30 minutes to Notchview for cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

The space
The apartment has both a loft-sleeping area and a queen futon in the main living area. The futon can be folded into a comfortable couch if you want to just use the loft area for sleeping, and the bottom area for living. Full kitchen, full bathroom with Shower.

Guest access
Guests have free run of our property, including the Blue House studio up on the knoll.

Other things to note
This is a place to come and unplug - we have high speed internet but your cell phone will be spotty as you get within 20 minutes of Ashfield. There is a landline which you are welcome to use. Probably print out your directions to be on the safe side.

There are three beds in our apartment - as shown in the pictures. In the main room there is a queen sized futon. Up in the Loft there is a double and a single futon. For our new longer term stays, you might want to re-make the futon into a comfortable couch and just use the loft for sleeping. We require that if you are more than two, you communicate with us and let us know who makes up your party. One reason for this is that our Loft is not suitable for young children because (a) you reach it via a ladder and (b) there are no high guardrails. Four people are never permitted. Thanks and we look forward to your inquiry!

Your apartment is 2 1/2 miles to Elmer’s, home of the best pancakes in New England (Yankee Magazine), the Ashfield Hardware Store (where you can actually find everything you need), which is right next store to Country Pie Pizza (really good pizza) which is right down the road from the Ashfield Lake House, the best place to grab a meal and a beer. We are also 20 minutes to Berkshire East Mountain Resort and about 30 minutes to Notchview which is great for cross country skiing and snow shoeing.

Ashfield has a number of hikes of varying levels of difficulty but none of them are too difficult. You can get to one of those hikes right from the back of our property and it goes down to a 300 year old burial ground deep in the woods. We are also a stone’s throw from Bear Swamp which is a Trustees of Reservation site, as well as Chapel Falls, another Trustees site. Down the road from the farm about 5 miles is the DAR Reservation which has public swimming and places to put in your flotation devices - lots of ways to be outside.

We are within 30 minutes from Smith College (Renee’s alma mater) and a little longer to UMass/Amherst. We are about 45 minutes to Mass MOCA in Adams, and 1 hour to Lee, Lenox and Tanglewood.
