This wasn't the most pleasant experience we had on AirBnb so far, but overall it was okay, especially considering the price.
We arrived a little later than expected, since we didn't anticipate standing in line for an hour at the Bosnian border. Sanja was very nice and not mad at us, but we felt that we were rushed through all the instructions and neighborhood tips, so we didn't remember anything we were told really (it would have been more helpful if this was written down somewhere for reference.)
We had a mixed feeling about the neighborhood the apartment is in. It's not nice, rather run down, it feels outskirt-y. Sketchy people lingering around the street and shouting during night hours. One time a VW full of sketchy guys stopped next to us and waived a paper at us. We said we didn't understand, so they cursed something about "American people" and drove off. Needless to say, we didn't always feel safe. On the bright side, the apartment is about a 15 minute walk from the city center, and since there is nothing worth mentioning in terms of restaurants or bars nearby, this is what you will end up doing a lot.
The apartment is cute and clean, and I found the bed was very comfortable. However, there were two things which are total no-go's for me: it smelled of stale cigarette smoke everywhere (there was an ashtray, so smoking seems to be ok here), and there is NO WIFI. We were a bit dumbstruck to learn that, and Sanja rightfully pointed out that it's not listed under "amenities", but seriously, it's 2015, the absence of any internet connection during travel is a major bummer and should be explicitly pointed out in the listing. So should have been that this is a smoking apartment. I wouldn't have booked this place had I known any of this. (Fortunately, WiFi coverage around the city is decent, but having to check in to your flight on a park bench is really not cool. Also, Bosnia is not in the EU, so forget about booking a EU data pack for your cellphone, it won't work.)
Overall I would say: if you don't rely on a WiFi connection, and if you don't care about the neighborhood too much and that it's a smoker's apartment, then it's a good deal. Otherwise I'd look elsewhere.
