Welcome to Old Seagrove, on 30 A right in the heart of the Emerald Coast!
Seaview Beach House is an old-fashioned beach cottage retreat filled with folk art and collectibles. Unlike blandly modern beach homes, Seaview provides a homey haven reminiscent of beach vacations of the past.
The property is completely fenced and can accommodate four vehicles (an absolute luxury in a place where parking is at a premium). In fact, our parking area is spacious enough to allow you to bring your boat! (There are two boat launches within 3 miles of the house as well as a dozen more if you are willing to venture a little farther away.)
Nightcap Street has its own beach access which is 75 feet from the house. All you have to do to get to the Gulf is grab your stuff and walk across the street to the beach! Literally, just leave the gate, cross over 30A and there you are! Because Seagrove Beach is protected by dunes, the beach access is a short walkway followed by a staircase leading down to the beach.
Our kitchen is fully equipped for all of your cooking needs, and there is a large propane grill on the deck for cooking out. You can eat at the kitchen bar, at the dining table on the lanai or outside on the covered deck. Also on the lanai is a sitting area with rocking chairs. In the den is a large flat-screen tv with cable and a DVD player. Wifi is accessible anywhere on the property.
The house has two master bedrooms (one at each end), a bedroom with two twin beds, and a daybed with trundle on the enclosed air-conditioned lanai. One bathroom features an old-fashioned claw-foot tub for deep soaks. The other bathroom has the most fantastic shower: it has a rain shower head, a handheld shower head AND three wall mounted shower heads. Turn one or all on at the same time for the most amazing shower experience!
On the back of the property is a private outdoor shower, a detached laundry room with washer and dryer, a bike, beach chairs, floats, and many body/boogie boards of all sizes. The yard is large enough for badminton (the net, birdies and rackets can be found in the laundry room). A cloth hammock on the covered deck is the perfect place for reading a book or taking an afternoon nap.
Folk art and collectibles fill the house and are arranged by theme. Well-known Southern folk artists such as Mose Tolliver, R.A. Miller, Ab the Flagman, Willie Willie and others are well represented. Enjoy looking at collections of nautical and patriotic art, shells and old-fashioned carnival chalkware.
Seaview Beach House's tower is a perfect place for kids to hang out! With treetop views, the tower is filled with things to keep young ones occupied: a Wii system with lots of games, board games, puzzles, books, cable tv and a DVD player.
Interaction with guests
I will only be available by phone as this is my vacation home. However, a local property manager is readily available to handle any issues that require a personal response.
Other things to note
The property also features a studio (please see listing for Seagrove Studio) that can be rented along with the main house for a discounted rate. The studio has a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, bathroom with shower/bathtub, queen bed and sofa bed. It can house up to two adults with children. Please note that the studio might be rented during your stay. If so, be respectful of your fellow guests. Because we do not allow pets in the studio, you will not have to worry about interacting with other dogs. (Please note that the laundry room itself may also be used by people staying in the studio.)
One last note: all beaches in Seagrove and Seaside are protected by dunes and are accessible only by stairs. The closest flat entrance to the shore Grayton Beach, a few miles west of Seagrove.
- We welcome dogs with a few rules: 1. Dogs must be supervised while in yard. 2. Dogs must be up to date on flea medicine. If your dog infests the house with fleas, you will be charged a $300 fee to pay for furniture cleaning and pest control. 3. Please use sheets provided to cover couches and chairs to protect them from damage.
- Smoking is only allowed outside the house.
Please note that the house is NOT suitable for infants and toddlers. If you wish to bring small children, please note that the studio is child-friendly.
I am an artist, avid traveler and mom to four fur kids. Since I tend to take my fuzzy babies with me on the road, I appreciate the needs of those who roam with four legged companions.
