Rustic, quaint and surprisingly spacious for a little cabin with two twin bunk-beds (with really comfortable mattresses), linens, a small refrigerator, bottled water, a coffee/tea maker, mirror, books, fans for the summer, etc. Try our new outdoor shower with "solar showers." (This will only be nifty when it is warm out.) Please bring flip flops and a robe or sweats. We have biodegradable soap/shampoo. We have an Outhouse that is clean, cute, well equipped and about 25 feet away.

The space
Enjoy the Farmer For A Day Program at Old McDonald's Farm, Inc. Stay over night in the Farm Cottage and learn the feeding, health and housing needs of all of our farm animals the next morning if you choose to add on the Morning Chores package. Have tea, coffee or hot chocolate and a light breakfast faire then do a cruise around the farm with a hay ride and later meet all the animals during the Morning Chores package if you choose to add that and if we have the staff. The animals are always happy to see folks, especially with food in our hands. An 'Add On' is a hay ride, a fire in our fire pit (if there is not a burn ban), Morning Chores package or horse riding lesson. Enjoy getting on our antique tractor, play on the horse swing, toss horse shoes, rope a fake cow, go for a nice walk, etc. Relax and enjoy our beautiful farm.

Guest access
Once booked and you are joining us, meet Wayne or Stephanie to let you in, show you around, give you the safety rules, show you where the fire extinguishers are, etc. and get you settled. You are welcome to come and go as you please once you check in with us! We will ask you to send us an email once booked so we can send you all of the information and options for you.

Other things to note
Technically, you are joining us for the Farmer For A Day Program. You can enjoy our fire pit outside or we have a barrel stove under cover (if there is not a burn ban). Stay over and then meet and greet our farm animals while you learn to feed and care for them the next morning if you choose to Add On the Morning Chores package and if we have the staff to teach it. All the animals will be very happy to see you. Meet the 30+ animals that include the horses, cow, goats, sheep, pig, geese, ducks, chickens, rabbits, cats, and our farm dogs too.

Includes:
- Stay over night with one staff person on site initially to show you around and help you get settled.
- Continental breakfast
- Horseshoes
- Seasonal berry picking is available
- Enjoy scenic views and a wonderful, bucolic atmosphere on our 68-acre farm.
- Antique tractor to play on
- Beautiful nature walk

- Horse back riding lesson (if we have the staff to teach it) the next day that is $50 per hour per horse and one staff person or we can do two mini lessons for two people at 30 minutes each.

Founder and Executive Director of Old McDonald's Farm, Inc., I was born in Deer Park, Washington and grew up in the Spokane area. My family bred, trained and traveled to show registered Morgan horses for the family livelihood during most of my childhood. I was originally 'Stephanie McDonald.' (That is where we got our farm program name, seriously!) After high school graduation, I came to Oregon to go to college at Oregon State University. I later transferred up to Portland State University and got my undergraduate degree there. Many other Board members and volunteers and myself have logged in more than 35,000 hours of time to build Old McDonald's Farm, Inc. There have been so many people that have given so much to make this program work. It began as an idea in 1992 and officially opened to serve Portland metropolitan area children in 1998. Wow, what a project! I do not recommend that too many folks start their own, private non-profit, children's charity. It is an amazing and even an insane amount of work but it has been "worthwhile" most of the time. I later went back and got her Masters degree in Teaching at Warner Pacific College. I am a Oregon State Certified Teacher. I delight in sharing animals, agriculture, gardens and natural resources with the Portland area children and adults. I love animals and enjoy figuring out ways to "teach and reach" the heart of kids with them. In my spare time (which I have very little) I hike, run, bike, read, camp, kayak, snow ski, plant flowers, have dinner parties, explore museums and antique stores and love my church.
