Amazing place and facilities. The hosts were very pleasant and willing to help. Mariri is blessed to be in such a very reserved place where you can enjoy the nature! This was an incredible experience.

Marianne is an absolutely amazing woman making her life's work to create her own legacy by creating her own national park which Brazil desperately needs! To stay in her jungle lodge which feels like a dream of a creation, is an intimate and very special experience, which is more of an honour than being a paying guest. The rooms are all fantastic, we generally stayed in the tower which had ample room for us and our two kids age(URL HIDDEN)and we also stayed one night in the tallest treehouse in Brazil, which words cannot describe the child hood dream becoming a reality to wake up with parrots, toucans, monkeys, many cats and dogs and talk of a porcupine called George! This place is an easy dust track drive from alto pariso but the last 200 meters of her drive is fairly hairy, though you don't need a 4x4 but I couldn't find one anyway, but the advantage is the track keeps out too many typical tourists as this place is so so special as I doubt you can stay anywhere like this in the world, and you would want to keep it like that! Though the whole place holds up to 30 people we shared the kitchen and amazing swimming pool with a maximum of 2 people , and they worked there ! It's a short drive to all the most amazing waterfalls I've ever seen , but the best ones are literally 10 mins drive from the lodge. When visiting various waterfalls everyone knew marianne and said we were staying in the best place round there! We stayed 6 nights and were upset to leave epically our kids who found it like a dream out of the jungle book! Oh and the food! I'm not a vegetarian but I have just been converted! Lunch and breakfast are a must ! Raf is the best cook I have ever met, and he's a right laugh too! I seriously cannot recommend this enough to the serious traveller who wants to stay in the most amazing houses in the middle of a jungle!

Marianne created her own little garden of eden where she lives in complete harmony with the surrounding nature. The last 15 km are bumpy and hard, especially at night, but thanks to Marianne instructions we found it quite easily. The experience is definitly worth the effort !

I agree with the other reviews about the beauty of this place and the kindness of the host (and other guests). We came with three kids and they enjoyed the lodge and the surrounding forest very much. That said, I would recommend that anyone with young children think twice before coming. We had an unfortunate experience: two adults -- one man, one woman -- got completely undressed when they were in the (4 sq. meter) sauna while one of my kids was in there. There wasn't anything sinister about it -- they were just enjoying the sauna --but for me it showed a lack of judgment or awareness of what is appropriate that made us uncomfortable about staying longer. We left after only one night, and Marianne was extremely gracious and understanding. But if you're not ok with strangers getting naked while in close quarters with your kids, this may not be the place for you.

Wonderful, a relaxing space in the middle of the jungle. We woke up to monkeys and saw the sunset with roosting macaws! The only tricky bit was arriving, the place is along a difficult dirt track and our car got stuck a number of times.

Response from Marianne:
Thanks Kate...yes the road can get tricky especially during the rainy season...i will stress that more clearly in the directions...its finding a balance between not scaring people off and warning them clearly that when it rains the roads can get slippery.

Spending the New Year Eve at Mariri Jungle Lodge was an amazing experience. We were kindly received by Mari and Rafa. Quickly we felt at home. We stayed at The Tower, a lovely room with a large and comfortable double bed and a single bed that easily gets three people. The view from the room could not be more beautiful with the mountains and the forest on the horizon. Watching the sunset from room was one of the most beautiful that we've seen. The Mariri dependencies allowed us to cook and store some food and drinks that we took. The shared kitchen is well equipped and works with a good dynamic between the guests that use it. The natural pool is very cozy, refreshing and has a delicious water, which made even better have a sauna and then to dive. During our hosting, we connected with nature and took more awareness of our relationship with the land and the water. On new year’s eve we enjoyed a delicious supper, danced amazing music in the company of other guests and hosts. The Mariri is definitely a place that marked us and to which we will return :)

A Londoner that moved back to Brazil, her country of origin, to live closer to nature. Zoologist, environmentalist, permaculturist, ongoing student, activist, creative, seeker. In town; managing to hook up with some great people that are joining her projects and those on the land; currently living by the foot of the most amazing cliffs with a few of dogs, cats, 2 local helpers, 3 species of wild monkeys in the forest´s back garden, macaws and toucans flying overhead.
