On over half acre of land, complete with chickens and fire pit, this homey atmosphere is relaxing and peaceful. At night enjoy the nature sounds and stars from the large back patio! You will love the views and infrared sauna. Safe and easy access and parking. Perfect for business travelers & adventure seekers alike with quick access to countless miles of nature trails and French Broad River.

The house is large and spacious. Even when fully booked guests often don't even see each other!

The space

The listed price is for ONLY the double size bed in the photos. This is a large upper level room with vaulted ceilings and loft, refrigerator, and has the best mountain view in the neighborhood. No need for bottled water, my well has clean fresh mountain water.

The space is large and can accommodate extra sleepers. Add-on fee ($40) to set up the other double size bed. Add-on fee ($25) to set up the single air bed in the loft. Guest fees for each additional guest after one. So the space accommodates five in all. Dorm-style!

For 2 beds, loft air bed and five people, will be price of room + additional guest fees + 40 + 25. Not bad!

The double size beds are thick futons with springs inside. Super comfy. Private half bathroom right next to room. For your showers, full bathroom is on the main level. It will be shared if main floor room is also booked.

By appointment, you may relax in the infrared sauna, complete with color therapy and essential oils.

Guest access

Easy access to house, no dangerous winding roads, and plenty of parking spaces. Enjoy lounging or snacking on the back decks, or fire pit area and take in the nature sounds and mountain views.

By appointment, you may relax in the infrared spa sauna, complete with color therapy and essential oils.

If you've got a laptop, I have DVDs ... if you'd like to see movies, just ask!

If I'm around, I'll do your laundry and fold it for $15 a load.

Interaction with guests

When you check-in you will find the guidelines on the kitchen counter with your name at the top. Most don’t read them from this website. Please initial each item, sign and date it. That way, we’re on the same page, and everyone is happy~!

As a musician, if I'm in town, most of the time I am working either at the house or out. On the piano you'll see many brochures about hiking trails, restaurants, local attractions, etc. Please don’t be offended if I am unavailable to entertain you, or have long conversations. You are on vacation, I’m not. (smile) Being a hard-working musician, most of the time I’m in my office or out performing.

Let me know if you need a restaurant recommendation or some fun ideas!

Other things to note

Important Best suited for low maintenance folks who have a car and will be out exploring fabulous Asheville area. Flexible check-in time, and luggage drop-off allowed if you have early arrival. Pets live on this property.

My 2 short hair cats do not enter guest rooms. Those with cat allergies do well here as I don’t have rugs, and vacuum often. Security system includes motion activated cameras that view each entry door. I have another room I'm renting out, on busy weekends when both are booked, full bathroom shower is shared

This is important: In case you didn’t look at the amenities, I’m repeating it here: Towels, bed sheets, blanket, soap, toilet paper, A/C, heating, hangers, hot water, wifi. Coffee maker in kitchen. Refrigerator in bedroom, use of patios, garden, backyard, but NOT kitchen, or side and front doors. Read this list carefully and do not ask for unlisted amenities, then give me less than FIVE stars when I politely refuse.

Upon check-in, you will be asked to re-read the amenities and guidelines below, and sign a document acknowledging your comprehension and agreement. This is not a hotel where you can do whatever; you are a guest in my home and must follow house rules or you will be asked to leave.

The tub is fiberglass and stained, and toilet has rings also from the well water. Be assured it is "well" cleaned.

You’ll love your sheets and crisp towels as I sun-dry your linens, unless it's raining.

House Rules

1. Security -- doors. Capital D: Use only back patio entrance / exit, and keep it locked. Leave key in lock box. Keep bathroom and bedroom doors closed. The only door to stay open is the cat room door by the full bathroom.

2. Security -- alarm system: It is safest to keep unoccupied house armed after dark. Wherever I am, I operate the security system remotely. I need you to text me when you leave and when you approach the house.

3. Animals -- My cats are INDOOR cats so don’t leave doors open; just be mindful. They love to socialize, but not allowed in bedrooms. Chickens love visits and to hear how beautiful they are. If they are inside the fenced run, it’s for a reason. Do NOT open the gate. Predators come around at certain times.

4. Shoes off at the door. I don't have a cleaning fee, so I count on my guests to clean up after themselves. I will use your deposit if there is cleaning to do after you leave. (i.e. Do change sheets at check out, spills, liquid rings on wood furniture, cans and bottles at the fire-pit or on grass, or stained linens. Please do NOT use towels & washcloths to take off makeup, clean shoes etc.)

5. House is freshly painted; do keep hands off the walls.

6. Bathroom -- keep bottles OFF FLOOR, as they instantly stain the fossilized slate floor. I have septic system; flush only toilet paper. Shampoos and items in medicine cabinet are for your use and convenience.

7. My well water leaves stains on tub and rings in toilet, and cannot use harsh chemicals with my septic system. I agree not to give less than 5 stars for cleanliness due to toilet rings or discolored tub.

8. Please use the hooks in your room for wet towels & washcloths. If sunny out, feel free to line-dry your clothes or linens. (Either patios, or clothes line near fire pit.)

9. Speaking of fire pit , I must be on property to use the fire-pit. You are responsible to stay with fire until it is COMPLETELY extinguished; use water from hose.

10. Your coffee / tea condiments and utensils are in refrigerator top two shelves on the right. If you see some snacks there, or on kitchen check-in counter, do help yourself! You may keep food in fridge in your room. No cooking in kitchen, in compliance with city ordinances for Airbnb. That’s half the guidelines, verify now by texting me the code word: aardvarkab

11. No smoking on property. No pets. No parties or events. No additional guests or friends allowed on the property.

12. Quiet after midnight.
13. No illegal activities on the property.
14. If you are intoxicated, you will be asked to leave.
And….the basics:
• If you open it, close it.
• If you turn it on, turn it off.
• If you unlock it, lock it.
• If you break it, repair it.
• If you can’t fix it, call in someone who can.
• If you use it, take care of it.
• If you make a mess, clean it up.
• If you move it, put it back.
• If it belongs to someone else and you want to use it, get permission. If you don’t know how to operate it, leave it alone.
• If it doesn’t concern you, don’t mess with it!

Check out tips: PLEASE, ALWAYS LOCK EXIT DOOR
1. This listing has a flexible check-in time & no cleaning fees. Please put fresh sheets on bed, & clean your room and bathroom for the next guest who may be arriving soon after you check out. (If you don't, you will be charged a cleaning fee.)
2. Used sheets / towels go in washing machine in big kitchen closet.
3. Unplug refrigerator in your room, if you used it.
4. Garbage goes outside in black bin, by parking lot. Use plastic bags, found in small drawer, just right of stove. Anything with a smell attracts bears and other wildlife and they are a terrible spectacle!
5. (Optional) If you recycle, look for the signs in green print, in the kitchen. This concludes the house rules. Thank you for your care and attention. To pass my screening process please verify again now by texting me the code word “aardvark58ab”.

Infrared Sauna
You will need to make an appointment with me (Stephanie Quinn) as I must be present to operate the sauna. Sauna fits 3, and you sit in it, not lie down. Bring a book, hook up blue tooth or see a movie, meditate, etc. Sessions are 30 minutes and include: before and after shower, sauna towels, essential oil and light therapy. For 30 minute sessions, $45 for single, $60 for two, and $75 for three.
What is it and why use infrared sauna
I use it for part of my physical therapy. It is quite different than traditional dry heat (or steam) sauna, and has health benefits over the long haul. A one-time session will make you deeply relaxed, detox any skin blemishes, make your skin beautiful and most sleep very well afterwards. Sometimes I do my session in the morning, followed by yoga, a second shower, and then off to work and I’m energetic.
(URL HIDDEN)
Because there is no steam, you stay dry and it takes a while to sweat. Once you have warmed up, your body can feel quite an intense heat – even though the air in the sauna is still comfortable to breathe in and not too hot like a traditional sauna. Infrared rays are the same rays from the sun that make your face warm when you’re outside on a bright sunny winter day.
How to do it
Shower before session, no oils or lotions. Drink a lot of water. Wear easy fitting clothes so it is easy to get dressed after your session. Over your clothes, wrap yourself in towels, so your bare skin doesn’t touch the wood too much. Keep a big jug of water outside the room, and step out to drink it if needed.
There is an option for “color therapy” and a bowl for essential oils. I have a pretty good variety of them to use.
The rays penetrate 1-3” into the body, and the detox feels great. However, if you have consumed alcohol or mind altering substances, it is dangerous. Don’t do the sauna until your system is clean at least 24 hours. The release of toxins is intense and you will get sick.
Precautions
• Overheating and dehydration are always a concern and should be managed by the individual. You should remain well hydrated before, during and after and keep up your electrolytes. If you are feeling unwell at all during the session, leave the room immediately. If this will be your first experience, you’ll be going in and out to cool off and hydrate.
• Individuals who have had a stroke, aortic stenosis, heart attack or have lupus erythematosus or brain tumors should avoid using a sauna.
• We would always recommend you check with your doctor before using an infrared sauna, and especially if you have a pace maker, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, implants or suffer from severe anxiety.

Guidelines for Your Visit

1. Security -- doors: Use only back patio entrance / exit, and keep it locked. Leave key in lock box. Keep bathroom and bedroom doors closed. The only door to stay open is the cat room door by the full bathroom. If you are an upper level room guest, close door at top of stairs. I have students with cat allergies. My cats are very social, so they may follow you up there. Closing the door will send them back where they belong!

2. Security -- alarm system: It is safest to keep unoccupied house armed after dark. Wherever I am, I operate the security system remotely. I just need you to text me when you leave and when you approach the house.

3. Animals -- My cats are INDOOR cats so don’t leave doors open; just be mindful. They love to socialize, but are not allowed in bedrooms. Chickens love visits and to hear how beautiful they are. 4. Shoes off at the door. I don't have a cleaning fee, so I count on my guests to clean up after themselves. I will use your deposit if there is excessive cleaning after you leave. (i.e. spills, liquid rings on wood furniture, cans and bottles at the fire-pit or on grass, or stained linens. Please do NOT use towels & washcloths to take off makeup, clean shoes etc.)

Stephanie's rustic upstairs cabin retreat was exactly what I was looking for and a great value for the price! I loved using the back porch in the morning- with my coffee in the lovely morning light with the roosters in the background and a lovely view of the mountains. Stephanie had thoughtful touches for all of us, including yummy Trader Joes' coffee, mugs, fresh fruit + chocolate. She's an accomplished professional musicians, and I loved being serenaded by her violin when I got in at night! Her cats were also adorable and friendly. It was a great experience!

Stephanie was meticulous with the details about the place. If you read the listing thoroughly you will know everything there is to know about the place. She is very thorough and makes sure the guest does not expect something which is not being offered. All in good faith. She is warm and helpful in person. About the place, it is exactly as described in the listing. It was cosy and the bed was comfortable for a couple. We paid $165 for two nights including taxes and it was well worth the money.

I am an independent music professional and my son works in construction and hospitality. We love movies, and exploring Asheville's attractions. Being well-traveled we know well how good it feels to explore a new area and settle in for the night in a place that's warm and welco…
