Our family had a wonderful stay in Ginestra, Villa Paradiso, with perfect hosts as Irene and Mario. They are there for you if you need them, always friendly and able to communicate even if you barely speak Italian. No doubt Villa Paradiso hasn't stolen its name! One of the best locations one can choose in South-Sardinia: 2km uphill from the main road to Villasimius (exit Salmagi), 45 min drive from Cagliari airport and 30 min from the city, but equally close to the road to Muravena and Costa Rei (either new highway or the coastal road with spectacular views on the Mediterrane sea). The best of all is the complete silence around you in this natural setting where nothing else but sun, wind, moon and stars, birds and some sheep in the neighborhood accompany you with a magnificent view on the bay of Cagliari and the mountains, from the terrace and from the windows of the master bedroom. The Ginestra appartment has everything you need: large kitchen, microwave, oven, shower, bath, living room with wifi... Beds are comfortable. Washing machine and outside shower available. Large terrace. Irene and Mario are wonderful people, supported by their English speaking daughter living abroad. They knew we would arrive very late, so they even filled the fridge with some delicious food and a bottle of wine! How nice! And on the day we left Irene asked us if we would have "pranzo" (lunch)... Luckily we had the time for it because she surprised us with a delicious local and homemade dessert, Sebadas. Perhaps this was because we apparently were the first Belgian guests... We would definitely go back when we go back to the Cagliari area! Ps. We had 38°C during the day but did not need airco at all. Nights are cooler as well. Paying €50 for cleaning is common when renting a house, but when you are on holiday, why bother?

My wife and I had a beautiful and relaxing week at Irene's apartment. She and her husband live next door and were always there if we needed any help help. The sea view was just stunning!!! Since the apartment is located on a hill a bit far from the next city Quartu Sant'Elena I recommend to have a car.

The house of Irene and Mario is beautiful and the view is really fantastic. But conditions of renting was not equal to declared on airbnb - actually the third of all house is for rent, NOT the whole house as stated on the site. You need a car to get to beaches and markets as the house is situated in a village. The nearest good beaches are at about 20 km from the house. Beds are not big enough so if you're tall your legs will hang down. There weren't any cleaning agents. And keep in mind the rules of their house: there're no any daily/weekly cleaning but you have to pay mandatory 50 euro for final cleaning after you leave. If you don't want to pay this money you should wash the dishes, take garbage away and leave the refrigerator empty. As we did. But Irene was not satisfied and even asked to mop the floor!!! It looked like the small theatrecal scene she performed in front of us was well planed before and she did not plan to give back 50 euro anyway. You should also keep in mind that the airconditioner is not free (you should pay for it). And really good thing in the house is grill - you can cook fresh fish and vegetables.

Response from Irene:
The description on Airbnb site is very clear: we rent the apartments (La Ginestra in your case). If you didn't read it, it's not our fault. We always advertise before the reservation that is important to rent a car in order to travel around. And there are a lot of good beaches in our area (just have a look on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)). The beds are European size, or King size for UK people. Before you paying the reservation we send you an email stating: "The price for cleaning the apartment at the end of your staying is € 50,00 (obligatory). The air conditioned is € 50,00 a week (optional)." The second day of your stay your boyfriend Ivan wrote us: "We have read the rules of your house at the door and we decided to clean it by ourselves. Cause 50 euros is too much for us for this service." The house rules are: clean the garbage, the dishes washed, the fridge empty, like normal people always do. We NEVER wrote that you can choose if pay or not the cleaning. We specifically wrote that the price for cleaning was obligatory. We made an exception by having you not paying for them but asking you to clean the whole apartment by yourself, leaving it in the same condition you found it. Obviously you didn't. Besides you told us the day before your departure, that you would leave the apartment at 4 am, without ask before the reservation if it was Ok or not. We are an holiday house, not an hotel with check-out 24h/24h.

We chose Irene's house because of the following reasons: location, value for money, huge territory for kids to run around and fantastic views all around. We got all we wanted and needed. The house is spacious, the kitchen is equipped with everything necessary, and there's an excellent Wifi connection. Irene and her husband live next door, so if you have any questions or need anything, there's no problem to ask and get it solved (be sure to know some basic phrases in Italian; great practice! :) ). Other than that, we were left alone and didn't even feel their presence. I cannot advice anyone on beaches as we went to Sardinia in early spring and it was too chilly for swimming but there are lots to choose from and quite close to the house. Beautiful Villasimìus village nearby! The highlights of our stay were sitting on the terrace/porch (either side) sunbathing (in early March!), going to Calgliari fish market with Irene and her husband and grilling the fish afterwards and enjoying the stunning views in the evenings. Oh, and sweet pastries brought by Irene! Those were fantastic!!! We were Irene's first guests via Airbnb but she's been a host for years through other sites. Suggestions: *car is essential; *make sure you have a good GPS in your car or arrive before dark if you don't have one. We relied on the internet conection in our smartphone and got carried to a wrong place and got lost. No connection up in the windy mountain roads! *go to Salmagi village - there are signs on the road. It's where the house is located. It is a tranquill place just outside Cagliari and Quartu Sant'Elena centre; *ask Irene where the closest supermarkets are located. There is a small and beautiful one off the big road. They sell lots of local produce and traditional products there - we found every typical product on our list there.
